Hold Tight

Hold Tight

~

to grow up
is to chase off
our innocence
our naive belief
in the world as a beautiful place

it is to harden against the magic
of our childhood dreams

but if by chance
we can hold tight to just one
of those wonderful foolishnesses

perhaps we can hold on
to our precious sense of wonder

      1. You are most welcome Sherry! I have been blessed for the past 6 years with my first grandchild, a grandson, and have lived with him in the same household for the past 4 years. It really. Puts into perspective just how closed, even jaded, many (maybe most) adults become.

      1. It is essential to maintaining a sense of joy. In many adults, selfish even gratuitous pleasure becomes mistaken with joy/happiness — and it turns them cold, apathetic, inwardly focused. The seeds of bitterness, even cruelty.

    1. I hold onto the foolishness every day. Yhe other day we had rain for the first time in months. I must sdmit to going outside in my Hello Kitty rainboots and splashing in puddles, jumping in them like a mad woman
      Good write!

      1. That is fantastic Toni! 🙂 An emotional release such as that, experienced occasionally, keeps the spirit light. Dancing and singing fall into that category I believe.

      1. I agree OE, writers, musicians, actors stay in touch with that sense of wonder. I was aiming this write at the politicians, corporate droids, law enforcers, and the like. If we could instill them with a sense of wonder/humor, this world would be a far better world

      1. They have this gift morning, noon, and night, and it is not something they store to then need to go fetch it if and when they feel they need it —— it simply IS and they sre IT!! Like I do!
        R I do

      1. Well Kim, you must hold on! Do not let wonder wander over that hill of Jade, the other side is hollow and the hollows pele there just don’t care — and they don’t know why. just do not care — so HANG ON!!
