the natural world
slowly engulfed
diminished
withered
scarred
as the
putrid
toxic air
permeated
burnt terrain
to far horizons
defoliated trees
thrusting skyward
in this flaming hell
helpless dying forest
animals fleeing fires
some trapped on fire
I a pitiful survivor
useless sentinel
sad witness

I watched
|
it burned
