Left standing — a dejected fool
in the disapproving sun
to wither from sadness
as my crumpled heart
foolishly faithful
curls brittles and breaks
a victim of my trust
I did not see
the warnings to flee
and so I’m left empty
hollowed by ignorance
and self-inflicted denial
didn’t heed the dark clouds above
was blind to the meaning thereof
didn’t see you fall out of love
