O nce I have
all I can get
I’ll still want more
and more
and yet
the stuff I have
I must ignore
to have the time
to find some more
to stash
what it is I got
so there’ll be nothing
I have not
and when I have
all that there is
I’ll sit back
and say
gee wiz
I’m not certain
this is all
there is
limited space
no way
no way
I can fit more in
today
I may be nuts
or maybe not
but gotta have more
than what I got
I’m on the verge
of losing it
but I believe
more will fit
we’re near full
for sure
for sure
but I can still
fit a bit more
I can always
fit a bit more
though what I have
is gathering dust
and some perhaps
is gathering rust
though the walls
are ‘bout to bust
I’ll stuff in more
because
I must
I simply
must
Poetry at: Poets & Storytellers
Ha ha, I’m not acquisitive like that – except when it comes to buying books. This poem could be describing my book addiction!
I was that way with music CD’s Rosemary. I collected over 2000 between the early 80’s until maybe 10 years ago. Now all my music I download digitally, but nowhere near that pace.
Sitting in my study reading this I can appreciate the feeling, however I really must stop now and start throwing stuff out…except that I am busy doing other things!
Spring cleaning time Robin… 🙂
I can help you with that! The mistress of simple.
Including myself, my wife, my son, my daughter-in-law, and Alex the grandson — we’ve become buried in stuff since COVID-19 quarantine began. Frustrating thing is, not much is refuge — though a helluva lot of Amazon/FedEx/UPS boxes, some empty, some full of “survival” paper products, stock piled non-perishable foods and drinks, sanitizing and cleaning products. It’s a huge two & 1/2 car garage, with big work bench area, completely outfitted with beautiful electric tools — that not one car can fit in to park — nor can anyone comfortably work in. My son has had significant growth in his yard-work and gardening equipment & supplies. This massive clutter has slowly built up with stuff. Almost impossible to believe! But my son has promised a tool shed forthcoming — and we are bringing a dumpster in, parking it, and filling it up in mid-May, with the empty boxes and genersl clutter… Crossing my fingers! 🙂
I really identify with this one.
