”The Wiseman” – Jim Warren © 1975
Your clarity
blazed bright
a flame of logic
a vivid light
pierced the darkness
of ignorance
its radiance
sparked inquiry
your blazing light
turning now ember
edge’s ashen
can still ignite
those who remember
your philosopher’s passion
stir to fire
your dark wisdom’s desire

Wowww! This is incredibly deep and profound, Rob! I love; “your blazing light turning now ember edge’s ashen can still ignite those who remember your philosopher’s passion.”
Thank you Sanaa. I wrote it for Leonard Cohen.
I was wondering about that, Rob!
Wowzers.

Thanks David.
Pretty deep stuff. Ode to philosophy, and wise men. I can dig it. Novelists, poets, and teachers all find time to dip our toes in some philosophy or other. I got hooked by existentialism. Then much later dove into UFOlogy, reincarnation, Zen notions and New Age conjectures. We all seek a touchstone to substantiate our own perceptions.
Cool Glenn.Human’s who think always wonder what’s out there.
What a wonderful tribute poem to Leonard.
Thank you!
deep poem. great tribute to Leonard
Thsnk you Rog! 🙂
Ah, Leonard Cohen – what a songsmith! This poem made me think of ageing, of the fading of the mind. It made me think of my mother, actually, who seems quite ditsy, and then comes alive when we’re discussing politics. The fire is still there, somewhere.
I saw this as both a tribute to Leonard, and a reflection on aging. Losing some of the heat, but still coals to stir to flame!
A fine tribute, Rob! I saw above that you wrote it for Leonard Cohen.
Thank you. Yes, big admirer of Leonard’s body of work. Poet and songwriter extraordinaire!
A fitting tribute to the Master, Rob!
Thank you Ingrid!
Wonderful tribute – and I love the hopeful ending, that the embers can still ignite another mind.
Thank you Kate! Such is inspiration… 🙂
Cohen knew fire well, in all its manifestations. A fitting tribute.
Thank you Kerfe.

Thank you Bjorn. I love Leonard’s body of work! 🙂
