T urning to leave
she covers the distance
to the door
in a few sorrowful strides
she looks back
finds my gaze
as if to speak
in that fading moment
nothing is said
no need
she lowers her eyes
turns her head
steps through the door
into the November rain
and is gone

…and for a possibly different perspective on my poem:
Nicely done, Rob. Sad story!
Thank you Dwight… 🙂
A break up poem! Bleak and spare, very fitting for the time of year.
Thank you Sarah. All the no’s led me to this piece… 😐
Oy. Ouch.
Oh, I know brother — but what can a poor boy do… I’ve already played in a rock’n’roll band.
You ”write sad” so well!!
I am a melancholy man Helen — I find the feeling heightens my sense of the world, of time and space, the truth of the mystery. I just really get consumed by it… 🙂
Nice one Rob. The language of no speak is so much louder.
much????love
Thank you Gillena… 🙂 …so much louder, and ore devastating.
Love the colors in the images you chose. You make the breakup bearable although it is clear both of their hearts are in anguish.
Thank you Lisa — when it’s over it’s over… 🙂
Heartbreak always makes for wonderful poetry. It really tugs at the heartstrings of human emotion. James Blunt I haven’t heard that song in a while. You always have great selections.
Yes it does True, and I enjoy the melancholy feeling of this type of poetry. Also I try to find music that will cover a multiple of musical taste. I am pleased you enjoy the Blunt song my friend. 🙂
the no doubt song is a great choice to go with your poem.
Thank you rog… 🙂
November isn’t a good time for breaking up, Rob, and your poem brims with sadness, regret and November rain.
No, it cerainly would not be Kim… 🙁
So sad, and I almost expected to find Guns N’Roses as one of the videos… good then I still have that video on my post.
Thank you Björn I was just feeling melancholy so I wrote that little poem. I missed the Guns N’ Roses number. They were a number of musical pieces I’d come across that would have fit, I just chose a few that I thought she had some variety.
A lovely sad November piece Rob <3
Thank youAngela… 🙂
A sad story, but a common one.
Alas — we are but frail fickle humans Kerfe… 🙂
