Midnight Visitor

M idnight
in our moonlit forest

snowfall shimmers
deep and still
through the boughs
of old growth
like dances of star clusters

it blankets
our mountain
in white
pure as love

this night
falls quiet and crisp

great white owl
echoes hope
through frosted cedars

  1. Lovely alliteration in ‘midnight in our moonlit forest’, Rob, made me go ‘mmm’, and the image of snowfall shimmering through boughs ‘like dances of star clusters’ is stunning.

  2. It is so beautiful, but it always seems also so cold to go there, the great white owl is something I have never ever seen.

    1. Thank you John great white, owls, also known as snowy, owls, or snow owls are considered very good luck if you encounter one, so maybe you should check it out ha ha ha… 🙂

  3. A stunning poem, Rob… your love of the forest revealed in your poetry and this one is gorgeous! Lindsey Stirling’s music “wows” as well.

    1. Thank you Rosemary I appreciate it. I love snow as a romantic and adventurous concept, but like you, I prefer to write and think about snow, then to trudge through it… 🙂
