Original DDE™ surrealistic art: “Soon Now The Melt” by: rob kistner © 1/8/24
As soft I knelt
bright shone the sun
though the winter held
warmth made inroad
as will my heart
the lagoon soon melts
with breaking dawn
my warm tears flowed
renewed love
is what I felt
bright shone the sun
as soft I knelt

I like the circularity of your quadrille, Rob, beginning and ending with ‘as soft I knelt / bright shone the sun’ and ending with ‘bright shone the sun / as soft I knelt’, and I love the internal rhyme and assonance of ‘the lagoon soon melts’ – it made me go ‘oooh’!
Thank you so much Kim. I’m pleased this poem resonated for you… 🙂
I kind of like a frozen lagoon to go ice skating.. 🙂 but it’s nice when spring comes too.
Best of both worlds, Bjorn… 😉
A beautiful love poem, Rob!

~David
I am pleased it resonated that way for you David… 🙂
I love the circularity (is that a word?) of this….the beginning repeating itself at the end. Beautifully written.
Thank you Lil. As I wrote, it seemed to circle itself to completion… 🙂
Love the melting of the lagoon, Rob, and the hopeful nature of your poem. Thank you so much for writing to the prompt.????????????

Sounds like a beautiful prayer for Spring done by the Woodlands.
Thank you Oloriel. It felt like a prayer as it formed within me… 🙂
Beautiful quadrille…like a sigh. nice!

I love this part: renewed love. The repeated first and last lines brought home the message.
…all one needs is love! 🙂

Thank you Dora… 🙂
Rob great work here. Kneeling can feel like melting
Thank you Eric… …kneeling is no longer in my realm of possibility. Going to the knees, possible — rising back to my feet — nada…m:)
I love how this one winds gently home.
Thank you Jane. I love how you describe the motion of it my friend… 🙂
Beautiful, Rob. I love the Nora Jones video.

Lovely poem!
Thank you Nicole… 🙂
I like how you put this together, a delightful rhythm and I feel the imagery. I just love the idea of Lagoon that melts, like a heart that melts, a liminality.
Thank you Paul… I love writing poetry, and I greatly appreciate that my approach to writing song lyrics and poetry is enjoyed by others. It is that enjoyment that has fired my 60+ years of writing. My lifelong ADD has made my concentration for writing anything longer than a short story impossible. I get unbearably bored focused on one story line and desperately need to move on -+ but songs, and my form of poetry are a joy! Thank you again for your kind words.
