Original DDE™ surrealistic art: “Illumination” by: rob kistner © 2/29/24
Let’s reignite the flame of love
cast light upon this chilling fear
our human spirit seeks to rise above
the voice of logic we long to hear
cast light upon this chilling fear
illuminate this spreading dark
the voice of logic we long to hear
an inferno grows from but one spark
illuminate this spreading dark
the warmth of truth we need to feel
an inferno grows from but one spark
our hungry heart seeks something real
the warmth of truth we need to feel
our human spirit seeks to rise above
our hungry heart seeks something real
let’s reignite the flame of love

Now hear Todd Rundgren, the man who wrote this gorgeous anthem…
The whole of humanity …. sorely needs to hear!!!
I fear they know Helen, but perhaps they just don’t care… 🙁
Hi there Rob, Very tight, direct and powerful write. Something of a Crie de Coeur, which is very much appreciated.
As you knew I would, I certainly resonate with the spirit of this. Bravo…
Thank you Scott… 🙂
Oh yes, let’s, Rob! It’s about time everyone got together and ‘cast light upon this chilling fear’.
This is not the world I envisioned in my youth Kim. Perhaps 60 years ago I was foolishly naïve, but I had faith in the human species back then because I saw a gravitation towards peace and love, those two words have fallen victim to disempowerment and ridicule. So so sad and disappointing. There was hatred and corruption in those times, but there was, what I thought, was a groundswell of positivity and goodness. Appears the dark side won… 🙁
Yes indeed humanity is losing it there is beside the use of technology; a deep fear of annihilation. Its time we concentrate on the benefits and increase our rewards there.
Much?love
I hope we can put the evil genie back in the dark bottle Gillena, because pretending it’s not loose may well prove the downfall of the human species. I know that had been said before in history, and we have come through — but there has never been the absolute capability of our self-anihilation as exists in this time… and I feel it getting darker. I hope it’s just the grumpy old man in me but…
We are living in such a scary time, Rob. I don’t think it’s the “grumpy old man” in you. The evil ones are saying it all out loud now, and too many people are ignoring it.
Our movie infested video game frenzied society is just too damn distracted to realize the sky actually is falling… and though they realize it they don’t appear to care…
This poem is like a warm hug on a chilly day…
I think it’s saying, “Hey, let’s face those fears together and light up the darkness with our love.” It really hits home with those feelings of warmth and connection.
~David
Consider yourself hugged David… 🙂
Oh alas too few of us understand this important issue… we need to care more… a lot more
I don’t know Björn, if we just feel so overwhelmed as to be emotionally paralyzed, or we’ve just gotten to the point of being so desensitized to the evil and violence that we almost don’t recognize it’s intensity. Sad and dangerous situation.
The flame of love is the light in a universe of darkness! Your poem is very well written, Rob. Your call to truth is something we as a society/world never seem to grasp. You quote at the end says it all!
I would love to do a spin-off of your title illumination. Would you be so kind as to allow me to use your first image in my post?
Yes Dwight, with my blessing… 🙂
This is my spin-off poem, Rob. Hope you like what I did with your image.

I read it Dwight, just captivating. Thank you my friend, for honoring and elevating my image. Wow! 🙂
Thank you my friend.
🙂
*big sigh*
You end with hope and light (thank you) but I do feel the darkness setting on society. It is as though passiveness is just as much to blame. There have always been the ignorant, the misinformed, the evil…but since when did we just sit back and let them win? And why? I think I know the answers but it still shocks me.
Mish, I just think we’re so overwhelmed to the point of emotional and moral paralysis.
So many people are just trying to get on with their lives- but that is not what is needed now
I understand being overwhelmed to the point of apathy Kim, disempowered by helplessness, or confusion or fear — but that’s what the majority of the German people did in World War II. Look what it got them, it got them Hitler. Unfortunately, the political, emotional climate in this country, in fact in the world, is just the type of incubation environment, that something or someone like a Hitler, can use to advance their evil repressive hand.
Sorry I missed this one before but I just read Dwight’s poem with your image and it led me here. John had it right, but we’re too blinded by the unimportant to let love obliterate the darkness. Powerful images and poem, my friend.
Thank you so much Lisa… 🙂
I been singing that same tune now for so long with no effect, I mostly feel like I’ve run out of breath. Nobody’s listening anyway.
I hear you loud and clear Ron. Sure is frustrating as hell my friend, but I still have a bit of breath left, so I will continue to put it out there. Besides,I have grown accustomed to beating my head against the wall… 😉
