Original DDE™ surrealistic art: “Mine” by: rob kistner © 5/28/24
Do you think
you’re not still my slave
since digging yourself
from that earthen grave
since you sullied
your delicate hands
claw clawing out
of my bottom lands
you won’t know how
nor even when
but I just might
put you back again
do you think
you’re safe
think perhaps
that I don’t know
where you are
as you come and go
do you think
I don’t feel you
with my every breath
breathe breathing you in
breathe breathing you out
do you not understand
I can take your life
with my clenching hand
really – don’t you
my foolish
beautiful woman
anytime I want you
you are mine
anytime
you know I love you
you love me too
with a love uncommon
you know you do
don’t you
you are mine
it’s true
forever
you are not free
your every move
is known to me
your every thought
is mine to see
every fear
mine to trigger
it’s not fear I seek
it is something bigger
I watch you walk walking
both day and night
I follow in shadows
out of your sight
you will not know
whence I may come
I am the shadow
you are running from
the stranger hidden
across the street
the sudden sound
that startles you
from sleep
it is hopeless
to resist surrender
I’ll cradle your neck
my kiss is tender
you think I’m mad
well that may be
but that’s too bad
for you
not me
you pray
they catch me
we’ll see
won’t we
your nightmare is
I’ll not be caught
your dream’s come true
for I will naught
you hope I make
a fatal mistake
dare a close call
risk my downfall
my foolish love
there is no risk
it will be fatal
but no mistake
for I am brilliant
wicked cunning
you’ve felt my power
is it not stunning
does my magnificence
make you afraid
as my captive stare
makes resistance fade
you will not see me
in the cold dark rain
but you’ll feel my presence
in your fired brain
as I creep up quiet
from behind
to consume your life
as I am so inclined
I probably do
have love for you
but that breaks tough
mortal love is not enough
I truly don’t want
to see you cry
I only want
to feel you die
to this new life
for you and I
and as my emotions flood
I will taste
your sweet sweet blood
a beautiful cloak of death
I’ve fashioned for you
of blood red sequins
on deep midnight blue
an immortal thread
is stitched all through
it’s embrace is warm
and the fit is true
there is an exquisite gold coffin
lined in silken red
a soft delicate place
to daily rest your head
and should terror shiver
down your lovely spine
remember always love
you are forever… mine

The vampire is such a strong image of obsession… truly fashion.
Just had to add another song for you
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlPNh_PBZb4
Great suggestion, Björn, I’ve now included in the song medley. Thank you.
Yikes! Creepy, Rob. As I was reading, I couldn’t figure out how this related to the prompt till I got to the cloak. 🙂
My attempt Merril, at being a fashion designer for the dead… 😉
“a beautiful cloak of death
I’ve fashioned for you
of blood red sequins
on deep midnight blue”
when I got to these lines, the chills set in for real. What an immensely satisfying, unusual, beautifully composed poem.
Thank you Helen. That’s just me living out my E.A.Poe fantasy… 😉
Wow, Rob, this is chilling. I am looking for the “sounds” (the prompt) for “What’s Going On?” in your poem, and I guess this would work:
“I don’t feel you
with my every breath
breathe breathing you in
breathe breathing you out”
as I can hear the SOUND of breathing quite strongly here. I don’t find any other sounds……… Actually your poem is very chilling. A horror tale. I am glad I am not reading it alone on a dark and windy night. Smiles. A good and well crafted poem.
Thank you Mary… 🙂 I felt the “claw clawing” and the “walk walking” also elicited sounds.
You are right!
🙂
Ouch!! Spine chilling!!
“but you’ll feel my presence
in your fired brain”…Oh dear ! There’s no escape. This poem will keep haunting. No escape at all. Great lines Rob.
Thank you Sumana… 🙂
Frightenly unique – I wonder if there is a beginning and an end – Interesting poem .
It appears there will be an ending for someone Alan… 😉
Impressive tone sir. and quite cinematic.
Thank you Ollie… 🙂
This is very eerie and vampire-ish. You hit the tone bang on. Shivery to read.
It’s my occasional E.A.Poe dark journey into my writer’s soul Sherry… 😉
A chilling poem Rob. I always enjoy your wonderful description too! I hope all is well with you these days.
Thank you my friend… 🙂 Things are ok Carrie, I am holding grip to my sense of wonder still, so that keeps me sane.
Wow. A thriller of a poem, Rob, absorbing and haunting.
Thankyou Dora… 🙂
whoa each line … draws the sonorous chillling, threatening voice clearer and clearer .. truly an excellent rendering of the sound of imposed fear.
Thank you Pearl… 🙂
