the great wheel of time
turns ever slow and steadily
its ponderous mass unstoppable
it presses onward mightily
climbs the mortal mountain
bearing the weight of history
of ages and civilizations
borne then razed by its immensity
our lifetimes ride this wheel
how far is but a mystery
locked in fate ’round we go
rolling bold toward hidden destiny
frail temporal beings
of a most amazing bravery
we dream of a tomorrow
for which there is no guarantee
adrift toward a future
of veiled and vague contingency
still — we dare to love
despite this vast uncertainty

I could feel this poem deep in my bones… It highlights the strength in all of us: enduring, believing, loving no matter short our time or how difficult the journey at times.
vast, swirling piece..big scrolls of time and courage..Jae
Majestically scriven – a pleasure to read true articulation.
Love this beginning, and as it climbs, very nice.
I love the way you crafted this poem and also that you said something meaningful.
It’s dark, creaky and well done.
The last stanza really sums it up beautifully.
Your words were just magical and beautiful!
This has such strength to it and most certainly is the epitome of Bold!
The last line is GOR-ge-ous. My only fret is that I can hear my fourth-grade teacher carping about how Star Trek used to split that infinite, ha ha. Love your take on “contingent,” as I looked on it as a noun at first glance… this was lovely. Amy

Rob, also had a look at your artwork. I love the graphics, but my favorites are your characters. And you know me, it was the jazz drummer that got me going! ;^) Amy
Thank you for the kind words… 😉 My abstracts and collages seem to occupy the lion’s share of my visual expression, but I enjoy exploring the primitive nature of my characters. I have a collection of 31 of the character drawings, done freehand on a WACOM digital tablet. The one you’re drawn to, “Hot Jazz”, is a favorite of mine. The original of it hangs in my office…
Yes, we do, we do, we do, always binding the way to a distant future. Last para was superb.

Great poem, definitely has a timeless quality (pardon the pun), the ending is just perfect.
