…inspired by the hydro-electric dams choking the mighty Pacific Northwest rivers
and by read write image #3, found at “readwritepoem”.
haunting and lovely
This is completely different thinking. How did you manage to correlate this to the picture. Amazing one!
Jeeves –
As I live in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, I am exposed to the ongoing controversy here, regarding the deadly damage that hydro-electric dams are doing to the population of native salmon — and other wild fish of the region.
The dams are a huge deterrent to the salmon’s natural spawning cycle. Each generation of salmon grows smaller and smaller in number… 🙁
They are a fish very important to the native tribes, as well as the commercial and sport fishing industry here in the Pacific Northwest.
When you drive near these dams you see field after field of overhead electric lines, like the ones in the image featured in this week’s read write image prompt. That image inspired my poetic lament.

Thank you for your kind words… 😉
turtledoves and tofu is right–haunting and lovely are the exact words to describe this.
What a tragedy. This is a moving lament, Rob.
