The Spaceman

Wow — it is so hard to believe
that it’s finally time to leave
the spaceport

last night I nearly opted out
lying in bed thinking about
this spaceflight

I am nervous — I’m telling you
I fear at blast off I might poo
my spacesuit

but it’s damned cool that of this crew
I am the one who gets to do
the spacewalk

is this to me a dream come true
yes — if they keep me tethered to
the spacecraft

  1. David Bowie’s orange hair and spiffy spacesuit never were better honored. Your levity was terrific, and as you said to me, you almost stayed within the form. Fun is the word, giving NASA the bird.

  2. you aced the form Rob and I love your fantasy flight, go do that walk … at least gravity won’t leave any tell-tale droppings …

  3. Rob,
I couldn’t stop laughing long after reading this. You mastered the form to submit to your wicked humor and boy, what a spaceflight! Loved it. (P.S. Had to read aloud to my family, so much fun.)

  4. This did make me laugh, Rob, especially the idea of the nervous astronaut soiling his spacesuit. I feel like this about normal flying, so I don’t think you’d ever get me up in a rocket!

  5. As they say … ROFLOL … even if it’s not what they say, I felt like rolling on the floor laughing out loud.
