Original digital realistic art entitled “Beauty’s Isolating Curse” by: rob kistner © 7/18/23
F or many, beautiful of body, the unrest and vigilance of maintaining it is endless. Stopping is no option, for beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror. Always the fear of losing it, and the advantages of it, can often enslave the beautiful, in a consuming maintenance regimen.
Also the envy-fueled mistrust projected by others, can beget debilitating personal uncertainty, the fear of being seen as superficial. A possibility even worse, the imposter syndrome. In light of this scrutiny, feeling like a fraud, insecure about giving and receiving love, or the related underlying motivation.
Beauty brings advantage, but also elevated attention, stealing the safety of anonymity. Everything begins being measured and analyzed, including by the one possessing the beauty. Beauty can ignite the terror of feeling lost, lost in the uncertainty of one’s own life — genuinely terrifying. Therein lies the potential curse of beauty.

This Prosery for the Masses, Rob! Stellar.
Thannk you Helen… 🙂
Very insightful and eloquently expressed. I really enjoyed the analysis and sage words. Especially love this line…”Beauty can ignite the terror of feeling lost, lost in the uncertainty of one’s own life — genuinely terrifying.” Oh…another aspect we may overlook.
The advantages of beauty can begin to make you doubt the quality of your inner self, can make one feel confused and centered, I’m sure that can be very terrifying.
And the digital artwork! Wowsers, Rob…that is amazing stuff.
Thank you Mish. I first started doing digital art back in 1987, but I stopped for a while. But I’ve got some new software. I’m starting to work with really enjoying it. The arthritis in my fingers makes it possible for a me to make my mixed media totems work anymore, so I have now
focused on doing the digital surrealism.
Didn’t Narcissus die from staring at himself in the pond for too long? I really like the digital art you created for this prompt. For some beauty is a cultivated blessing but for others it is an unwanted curse.
Thank you Lisa, very much… 🙂
