deep azure crystalline lake
bull frog rises slow
ripples lap the bulbous ryes
crisp scent of water lilies
ripples on this mirrored lake
rise and drift gently
into the golden sunlight
big bull croaks softly — dreams rise

Hi Rob, great to see you at earthweal. Your tanka stack poises the half-terran, half aquaean meditation I love. – Brendan
Thank you Brendan, I appreciate your comments.
Beautiful and peaceful, Rob.
Thank you Sherry… 🙂
How lovely to bump into you at earthweal, Rob! And what a great description of the bullfrog! We used to get lots of little frogs and newts in our utility toom and bathroom (it’s downstairs) until the cats frightened them away, but we never had a bullfrog. I love the sound they make. Strangely, a frog did find its way in last week during the storm.
Hi Kim! The frog is a good-luck symbol for many cultures. A frog can be a sign of prosperous weather to come. Frogs are also considered lucky symbols of transformation and safe travel. Chinese believe frogs attract wealth. Maybe ask your cats to stop chading the frogs… 😉
Thanks for the tankas Rob, I like those “bulbous eyes”!
You’re welcome Jim… 🙂
