everyday
to this special place
and in bitter memory
paints this enchanted image
of this deep cold sea
keening quietly
a sound of longing
of a broken heart
mournful for the one
lost to these silent fathoms
so very far away
on that long-ago day
now only they
know where her lover lies
so everyday she comes
and paints this magic portal
to this far off sea
to seek its mystery
and every night
as darkness falls
the enchantment breaks
and her flood of tears
washes it away
and yet again
her lonely heart
shatters in the silence
but she will return
in the light of every day
in spite of her sorrowed pain
to paint this sea again
and with plaintive call
beseech this cruel sea
to reveal its precious mystery

Sunday Muse 61
Hi! I’m Edgrrr, rob’s shih tzu.
Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you Edwin… 🙂
Beautiful! I can feel the loss and grief.
Thank you Bicki. I am pleased it resonated for you.
I felt the longing in the photo as well Rob. This is a lovely capturing of that. Beautiful poetry here! Thank you for joining us at the Muse always a pleasure to read your poetry!
Thank uou very much Carrie, and you’re most welcome.
Oh, there is an entire novel in this poem. And I see the image differently for having read it.
I am glad this vonnected eith you Chrissa.
I am back to check on you with any tech difficulties. Let me know and I will see what I can do, even though I am low tech. LOL
It is very puzzling. Not sure what is the cause. Some Blogger sites will allow me to comment no problem. Some even recognize me the moment I click into the comment box. Others just disappear my comments th moment I click post/publish. IGWRT is a blogger site, and I have no problem, it actually recognizes me when I click into the comment, even before I have begun to type. The Sunday Muse site doesn’t seem to accept my “comments” no matter what I do. It does let me post my links. My biggest frustration is that I don’t want the Blogger poets, whose sites don’t allow my comments, to think I am not visiting them – because I am. I don’t post, then ignore. Not my ‘MO’. Oh well, the vast cyberspace is full of mysteries? Thank you for showing interest Carrie.
I just now tried to leave a comment on your site Carrie, telling you how much I was taken by your interpretation of this Sunday’s image – but alas, it just disappeared? 🙁
I feel the melancholy, the blue mood one carries when the heart yearns.
Blue and melancholy, with a sprinkling of tender tears Susie – a heady brew!
