Elusivity
veiled in promise
they beckon me
seductively
the elusive dreams
upon my heart embossed
yet there is a storm
can rage within
to churn at times
my weary mind
focus turned and tossed
the way grows foggy
direction blurred
the path unclear
the purpose slurred
this journey can exhaust
to stay the course
I cast and chart
and reference often
in handmade note
but not every “t” gets crossed
so my life gets lived
in bits and pieces
scribbled on scraps
of random papers
so many soon so lost
in losing them
confusion rises
chaos threatens
hopes can scatter
my elusive dreams the cost

You had me from the title!
in losing them confusion rises, how sad to be affected so by paper, by memories of the past…
painting details
Robb, this is beautifully written, and poignant, especially “my elusive dreams the cost.”
“yet there is a storm
can rage within
to churn at times
my weary mind..”
I loved the rhyming and flow to this poem. It really captures well the struggle to tame the chaos of a writer’s mind. Well done.
another good one Rob…..thanks again for sharing your words
I use to be this way… jotting down random thoughts on scraps of paper, but they would get lost and so my words too would be lost. Awesome poem!
Not every T gets crossed…I love that…
Only the important T’s right?! Great piece!
How did you get inside me head, Rob? Your poem describes vividly how I am feeling right now!
A wonderful write, Rob. Very nice!
This has a lovely flow with many nice images; a poignant poem … I think how often I’ve done the same thing and lamented in quite the same way; you’ve captured a universal regret here very well.

Wonderful word choices here. Some of my favorites are:
elusive dreams
upon my heart embossed
and this whole stanza:
so my life gets lived
in bits and pieces
scribbled on scraps
of random papers
so many soon so lost
=)
