Entangled
he spent his life
building and feathering his nest
head down
consumed in the process
a man committed
to the industry
of his task
so capable
so indendent
no time for distraction
wanting nothing
to interrupt
his single-minded endeavor
not needing
nor asking
for help
from anyone
finally one day
he rose up
to look around
to discover
he had achieved
every goal
every accomplishment
was indeed his alone
but terribly alone
he had no one
he was isolated
was entangled
in his cold
calculated
singular
success
he was
empty
and
sad

Interesting – a complete story in a few well-chosenn words.
how sad this makes me feel…..
Sometimes we do this – build for the future not realising we have lost touch with the present.

Sadly .. this describes many.
Yeah, life can be cruel! Well recorded!

I like this. And it rings true.
=)
yes can happen to the best of us when we get too focused in one area, you know…happens in life & in poetry…
oh this can happen so easily…we should stop more often and look around…to realize..before it’s too late..
Sounds so sad – but interesting! I wonder what happened next?!
I like this poem very much. Very happy to see you at Poetry Jam. By the way I find it difficult to find this black on black comment box and almost gave up. But anyway Thanks for participating and responding to my prompt. I am kind of late responding as our house has been crazy this week with my mother-in-law’s funeral. Hope to get back to my writing and responding schedule soon.
