…oh, again to soar…
I could but glide
like a bird in flight
I would soar skyward
on feathered wings
in sweeping circles
lifted on mighty thermals
I would not be earthbound
not a captive of gravity
if I could
but break the gravity
of time
I would not be a prisoner
of regret
this day would be soaring
and swooping
and giving thanks
for feathers
and hollow bones
and forgiveness

These women can SING!!
Ah, my friend, if we could but “break the gravity of time”! Beautiful, Rob!
Thank you Bev!
I think there is a reason gravity and grave have the same root…
Both heavy words Lisa.
A gorgeous poem in ode to freedom, forgiveness and thriving in life. I absolutely love this Rob!!
Thank uou Carrie! I love to imagine the freedomof flight.
Your words sing the beauty of freedom. Happy Sunday. Thanks for the music

much love
Thank you Gillena! 🙂
would not be a prisoner
of regret”
so much power and weight to that line that fits the image
Thank you Laura. That image struck me when I lingered with the photo.
This makes me wonder — if the choice were between flight and the lifting of regret, which would make one happier?
Both Chrissa, I am greedy… 🙂
Nicely expressed, Rob. Hollow bones!
Thanks Z!
‘the gravity of time’ …. so many hidden and not so hidden messages in those words. Great Write Rob! Go Ducks, Beavers too.
Thank you Helen! 🙂 Yes, I am watching my Ducks women vs Louisville, then my Ducks men vs USC — back to back today in their NCAA Sweet Sixteen games. GOOOOOOOOOOO DUCKS!!
Rob, you have captured the image with wonderfully woven words. I think we as humans have always had the desire to soar in life. Enjoyed the song offerings.
These lyrics come to mind.
… I told you
That we could fly
‘Cause we all have wings
But some of us don’t know why…
INXS – Never Tear Us Apart
Thank you True… 🙂 …used to listen to INXS. Saw them in concert in 1988 in Cincinnati a couple years before I moved to Portland, Oregon in 1990. “Never Tear Us Apart” was an excellent song. Loved the short, scorching sax solo. It sadly became Michael Hutchence funeral dirge in 1997, after he apparently hung himself — tragic! Paloma Faith recorded the song 25 years later. Here is a mashup of the two versions:

To escape gravity with hollow bones. All heaviness left below and nothing but lightness remaining.
Ahhhh! Wonderful feeling, wouldn’t it be Lori… 🙂
I love the giving thanks for feathers and hollow bones. Wonderful, Rob.
Thank you sherry! 🙂 Feathers and hollow bones can get you really highhigh airborne — what a trip that would be, swooping, diving, sailing out, climbing climbing climbing -+ sailng gliding on those amazing thermals. WOOOOW,!!
Sometimes I ponder flight without regret. As I grow older I am more for flying free. I can’t rewrite or revisit history and change it.
Just let those frequent flyer miles build up Susie — not the guilt and regret.
