collage entitled “Quandary” © 1997 — by: rob kistner
with the sane asleep
this poet is steeped
in conflicted inspiration
no clever thoughts engage
I am filled with doubt
vague words tossed about
the unyielding empty page
frustrating consternation
now I write — then do not
I am clear — then I’m caught
in merciless hesitation
oh please fickle muse
perhaps one small spark
to light this barren dark
why is it you refuse
cruel muse — you outrage
let’s be off with you
so I might start anew
free of quandary’s cage
Hi! I’m Edgrrr, rob’s shih tzu.
Nice writing – I think you overcame your dilemma.
Thank you Ricardo. It is a never ending, always recurring dilemma.
I know this feeling very well. Good work. 🙂
Thank you Clara. It’s the wall we all hit sometimes!
I like your plea to the fickle muse and the sound of the ABBA rhyme pattern.
Thank you Frank!
That’s exactly how I’ve been feeling recently! I’ve been a few months of writing almost no poems and finely feel like I’m back on the road of writing.
It is an endles cycle of up and down. I have stopped writing three different times for extended periods. Once for several years during a period of very poor health — but never gave up writing. Glad your muse is back Bryan.
Glad you persisted with your quatrain, Rob. Sometimes the mind seizes up like a charley horse and it’s painful.
Thank you Lisa. I get mind constipation sometimes… but I move through it!
I know that merciless hesitation well…
It is uber frustrating Kerfe.
“quandary’s cage”….brilliant, Rob!
Thank you Jim… 🙂

Thank you Deborah for your kind words! 🙂
