Music music is everywhere
the sound of music
can fill the air
it can slip right through the tiniest hole
it can fill a room
it can fill your soul
the power of music has great potential
its power to fill
is exponential
feeling deflated — hope won’t float
music will fill it up
note by note
soft music on a sunny April afternoon
can evoke sweet daydreams
even make you swoon
music can put you in a joyful trance
it can fill your feet
full of dance
it can fill the void in an empty life
it can obliterate sadness
eliminate strife
a tender song might coax a gentle hum
a rocker makes you wanna
bang the drum
music can stir your passions up
it will fully fill
your lovin’ cup
the right song and you might discover
you have a hidden desire
for a secret lover
by flowing into the empty part
music can fill
a lonely heart
a score or lyric in your favorite style
will fill your face
with a beaming smile
music is powerful and invasive stuff
but in this angry world
can there be enough

Your poem is just like a song, Rob, with its rhymes and rhythm, and I wouldn’t expect any less from you, a true music man. I agree with everything you say, particularly:
‘it can fill the void in an empty life
it can obliterate sadness
eliminate strife
it can flow into the remotest part
filling full
a lonely heart’.
Very astute Kim. This particular poem is built upon song lyrics I wrote years ago.
there can never be enough music.
great choice of tracks
Thank you Rog… 🙂
Your great poem took me back to Mac Davis:

Thank you Dwight… 🙂 I forgot about Mac’s tune, but I am going to include it — thanks my friend!.
I agree totally
much????love
🙂 much love to you Gillena…
Ah! The musician speaks and who can disagree with the words so true and beautiful! ??
Thanks for joining in, Rob. Perhaps you could have incorporated a couple of song titles given!
I hope Kathy is doing well.
You are so right Punam, I dropped the ball. I will rectify that my friend by going back and blending a few into the piece… 🙂 Kathy came home from the hospital today. She has to nurture the angry looking surgical incisions in her neck and in her throat so that they heal properly — but she is happy to be home after 5 days in the ICU. She looks much better than she did when she first came out after the 5-1/2 hour surgery.
When you write in rhythm and rhyme, you stick to it. Faultless, not a step out of place. Good song 🙂
Thank you Jane… 🙂
but in this angry world
can there be enough?
Yes how true it is Rob! There just isn’t enough of music to go around with! A great close and beautiful wordcraft as always!
Hank
Thank you so much Hank… 🙂
Great rhyming rob and great working in of the song titles
Punam called me on the fact thar in the first redraft, I failed to include any of the titles. During the original rewrite, the song titled were solidly on my mind. But after a number of iterations, I unthinkingly wrote them out. But now I found a comfortable way to put three of them back in. Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it Eric… 🙂
Indeed can there be enough music really?
Never Björn… ::
Simply a beautiful song Rob ????
Thank you AJ… 🙂
Add a question mark to that last line, Rob, and end with a grace note 😉 I like the lyrical phrasing and rhyme!
Thank you Lynn… 🙂 The last line is less a question and more an emphasis. I seldom use punctuation, much preferring line break. And I selectively use capitalization. I feel if my piece doesn’t communicate effectively without punc’s & cap’s — then I did a poor job writing it. I am 76-years-old — I take liberties. Call me stubborn… 😉
Wonderful pandora’s box in the best of ways, Rob. Music opens the world in the listener. Such a good playlist also.
Thank you Lisa… 🙂 Glad you dig the tunes my friend… 😉
You’re welcome and I do. All solid gold.
🙂 😉
Oh Rob, (why did I hear that in Mary Tyler Moore’s voice?) you were firing on all cylinders with the beautiful gem! I love every single word of wonderful write.
Thank you Raivenne for you kindness my friend… 🙂 Given I am a baritone to middle tenor, Mary and I would certainly sound different, but I am sure she would be great!
