Friendship
raise the carafe with care
pour forth freely
to drink deep
this wine of friendship
ripened well with time
aged to a vintage true
the seasons have been kind
to this nectar rare
let its heady fragrance
sweeten all your thoughts
and its bright taste
linger long and lush
may it lighten your burden
warm your heart
and lift your spirit
to a place of peace & beauty

true friendships…to have one truly care…it is a rare vintage for sure and once found should be drunk deep and enjoyed for as long as it lasts…smiles…
Well I’ll drink to that lovely poem… Cheers!
Very nice! Now I’m thirsty! Cheers!
Sounds good to me! K.
nice use of the wine verbs to write about friendship…fits perfectly…the ripening, the fragrance…great
This ticks all the boxes set by the prompt. Excellent piece.
Rob, the best friendships should be decanted… and all have their vintage. The best is when you both fall out of communication and reunited, pulling the cork out and sipping the familiar wine… I loved every bit of this, Rob. Amy Mine’s a bit naughty and out of the form of some others, but I like it!

Rob, tried to leave a comment, unsure it “took,” WordPress problems.
The best friendships should be carefully decanted from time to time, and all have their vintage… the best is when two are parted for some time and reunited, uncorking the old bottle and sipping that vintage that is only theirs. Love this. Amy

“let its heady fragrance
sweeten all your thoughts”
Yes, you capture good friendship and its celebration. I liked your other poem, too, and am sad it disappeared.
Thank you Susan very much but I do not know how you get connected to that old my written in titled friendship the new friendship poem is still linked accurately to the WGO website, so if you’re curious about the new one go give it a click
“….drink deep / this wine of friendship”— We live for this and it is “nectar rare”. Love the imagery all through.
That’s one of my poems I’ve written years ago about friendship, Sumana, but it’s not the one I recently wrote for the WGO site. The link to my new poem friendship is still up on the WGO side and it’s active check out my new friendship poem.
Hi Rob, I came here to comment on the poem you had originally shared that you wrote just yesterday, but I see you have changed it to this one written back in 2012. I found the 2024 one powerful and honest, the kind of poetry that hits one in the gut — which was why I liked it! I did not have time to comment yesterday & was sorry not to be able to see it again.
The correct link to my poem “Friendship” is still up on WGO site — maybe try it again Mary.
Rob, the link at WGO still brings me to this poem, which is indeed a beautiful poem of friendship.
Don’t know why the disconnect Mary? This is the direct link >> https://www.image-verse.com/friendship
This is lovely, Rob.
Not sure you’ve connected to the current friendship poem that I wrote for WGO side. Go back to the site and click the link. I think you’ll find a different poem. Although if you still think the new one is lovely Thank you very much and I appreciate that
A lovely ode to friendship
Thank you Rall… 🙂
