Wolf moon hung heavy
once more
in its passing
its bulbous orb
rolled
through cold chromium fog
wet clouds
smeared themselves
across its face
like translucent billows
of glistening moonbeams
shivering midnight
that sorrowing hour
again laid bare my soul
in grief of secrets

Very nicely written, Rob.
Thank you Dwight… 🙂
I love this personification, Rob.
Beautiful.

Thank you David… 🙂
I saw the wolf moon last week howling between the clouds. Beautiful work, my friend.
Thank you True… 🙂
One of my favorite Sting songs and it is a perfect accompaniment to your poem Rob!
One of my favorites as well. I have loved works throughout his career, “Fragile” bring near the top of my list. But for me, his first 3 albums “Dream of Blue Turtles”, “Bring On The Night” (live album), and “Nothing Like the Sun” were brilliant!
“that sorrowing hour
again laid bare my soul
in grief of secrets”
Lovely ending! 🙂
Thznk you Veera!
I love image of the clouds across the moon’s face, Rob!
(I didn’t see the W at first and wondered about olf moon. ????)
thank you Merril! You don’t know the olf moon? 😉
Beautifully poignant, Rob! I can feel those “wet clouds.”
Thank you Sanaa!
In the darkest hour it’s easy to see all your sorrow.
They can become glaring Bjorn.
Considering a wolf howl as much a lament as anything, I understand the “grief of secrets.”
Well done, Rob.
Thank you very much Ken!
Powerful imagery there…
Thank you Ain, very much…
Our Wolf Moon was truly spectacular … disturbing to learn trash from the recent SpaceX launch is going to hit the moon. Nice write, Rob.
Thank you Helen! Well, we have filled our near space with floating junk — might as well cover the moon?
I love the idea of ‘cold chromium fog’ – wonderful imagery, Rob!
Thank you Ingrid…! 🙂
Beautiful poem, Rob. Thanks for featuring my all-time favorite Sting song!
Thank you Sara! I love that song as well — hauntingly beautiful
