you came to me
deep in my summer
on your wings of spring
filled with hope and wonder
fresh and sweet
as nature’s nectar
you brought my heart to quicken
breathed new life
awakening forgotten passion
changing me forever
have I ever thanked you
Thank you De! It was the very last time in my life that I ever genuinely “fell in love”. It is a rich, beautiful, exciting memory, because it came at a time I thought certainly it would never happen again.
I have never before, and never since, been so completely drawn to another person. She turned a stubborn, middle-aged, twice-divorced, pessimistic, workaholic, comsumed by running my contemporary furniture store – into a giddy boy! It was blissful and exhilerating. It truly changed my life forever Bjorn…
Thank you Carol! It was easy to write, and all that fire I felt then, filled me again as I wrote this. I am so lucky to have known love, and it still blesses my life…
Thank you Linda! Yes – she came into my life like the sun bursting from behind a cloud. I was overwhelmed, from the first time we talked I was captive. God it was powerful and beautiful and like nothing before or since. She is my third wife, but my first real grown-up love.
Simply beautiful. I love the hope of spring bringing new life even to summer. Though summer is my favorite season, I can tend to bemoan that fall is not far behind. A love that can bring hope back is worth being thankful for.
She turned my life on its head Linda, and I am so thankful, for I was stuck focusing only on running my business. i hadn’t lifted my head to look around for a number of years, when pow sho opened my eyes wide!
I, too. am 25 years into my third marriage. Third time’s a charm, I guess. I inherited three daughters as part of the package, and now we are blessed with 8 grandchildren , and #9 on the way.
For me, it took until the 3rd one before I was mature enough to accept and reciprocate real love. I was a rock and roller through my first two wives. Both beautiful, but I was more filled with lust than love. Selfish, focused only on me. But Kathy, my 3rd, really turned my head and opened my eyes.
I think you just did, Rob.
I hope so Judy… 🙂
Oh, so beautiful. A true love poem, Sir.

What a lovely poem. A thank-you destined to touch a girl’s heart!
I can never quite express my feeling to her face-to-face anywhere near the depth I actually feel it, but I try…

The first three lines are so gorgeous.
Well, at least you like part of the poem… 🙂
I like it all, but those are my favorites. 🙂
I had assumed you liked the poem, and am pleased you did… 🙂 That was my weak attempt to be tongue-in-cheek humorous…
Tongue-in-cheek away, Sir. 🙂
That’s the first time I’ve ever used that as a verb. It works, I think. 😉
😉
Many times it is the ending that captures us, but in this one it is definitely the beginning! Well done!!
In this one the opening was to set the romance Dwight, the end was to confirm my love, and hopefully to tug a tear out…

I like the thought at the end of thanking those who have changed us perhaps in ways we weren’t expecting.
It is a heartfelt ongoing feeling of deep gratitude…
