Original DDE™ surrealistic art: “Walking Away” by: rob kistner © 11/13/23
The moon
hung like a tear
above the horizon
my eyes
followed you
moving
into the moonlight
my gaze held fast
until there was nothing
no warning
of the bitter cold
setting upon my world
your last kiss
now remains
forever on my lips

So tragically beautiful, Sir.
Thank you De — love me my tragic melancholy my friend… 🙂
Very romantic, I love the opening line. Beautifully penned.
Your kind words are much appreciated Di… 🙂
Very bittersweet but beautiful
Thank you OP… 🙂
Rob, this hits me with 2 emotions. One is deep sadness for the one left behind. The other is fear of that person’s enchantment by a fey creature that disappears into moonlight.
Who knows what my muse had in mind Lisa. It’s a piece of fiction — could comfortably go either way my friend… 🙂
Beautiful words. Great first stanza.
Thank you Arcadia… 🙂
A teardrop moon. Wonderful.
Thank you KF… 🙂
A moonlit loss … I love that image of the moon hanging like a tear.
I am pleased that resonated for you Dora. That visual is where the poem began, the moon like a teardrop in a story of sadness.
A lovely simile, Rob, the moon hanging like a tear’ and the sadness of a last kiss.
Thank you Kim… 🙂
Such a painful parting… I had a bit of similar approach…
Yes you certainly did my friend, a bit more sensual — but wonderful… 🙂
Pain and tragedy in only 44 words. Bravo sir.
Thank you Freya… I real life I have witnessed it in one sentence — sadly… 🙁
