painting: “Steps In Paris” by: Edward Hopper © 1906
Impaled
passion
let it run fire red
red as the roofs of Paris
that conceal the carnal
intertwined
on a starless night
in the throes
of sweating conquest
ripe with release
coursing with hunger
for the tender flesh
of reckless youth
white hot
as a deflowered bride
burning with the lust
of an august first-night
impaled on the horn
of promise and desire
there will be no truth
in these minglings
only raw bleeding need
and the quenchless thirst
for bittersweet
forbidden nectar
when you hear the whispers
know that it was so
and so it will remain
in the electric loins
of the skin slaves
aflame under red roofs

Hey Rob you are walking like poetic giant among all these red tiled roofs !
White hot as a deflowered bride…wow…stellar write, Rob…
“in the electric loins of the skin slaves…”
Rob, this is at once lush and kinky in its own way! The image is a good jumping-off point for the reader, but WOW, that’s all I can say. Steamy and fab. Peace, Amy

skin slaves aflame under red roofs…interesting…no truth in lust, but a coupling of the madly in love there might be some truth there…smiles.
Beautifully sensual, passionate writing. I love how you draw us into the heat of the city and allow us a peek into the forbidden.
Very exciting, visceral writing. I like the continuum of themes tied to colors. A lot of fun to read.
I’m going to try to be very literate here. . .
YUM!
Whew! Lusty and sensual at the same time. For some reason I kept thinking New Orleans’ hot summer afternoons. I agree, ‘stellar write’! BTW, love your art as well.
Psst… I think you mean “throes” not “throws” in the second stanza. 😛
Thank you Valerie… 🙂 …bad spell check, bad…!
This just throbs with passion, Rob. “first-night impaled on the horn of promise and desire…” Wow.
Amazing piece, Rob. I especially like-
