Original DDE™ surrealistic art: “Jazz Apparitions” — by: rob kistner © 5/2/24
Oh spirits
of toned wood and bamboo bent reed
of taut tuned steel and sizzlin’ skins
come to me now — jazz must be saved
jazz must be served — we’ll riff contrapuntal
play for me in healing virtuosity
I found a box and jammed it with jazz
whisper to me in purest resonance
unleash the chordal’d structure
espouse the harmonics of truth
tell all about the wirebirds
we must take violaville by storm
strummin’ wild in the tenth world
taunt me in a 3/4 minor chord flurry
of rich sizzling scalded jazz
I found a box and jammed it with jazz
here I come — I am an inferno
ensemble desire rages strong
as we rise skyward in musicality
ride’n the bliss of improv in scat
soaring in untethered sacred syncopation
well damn — we’re totally musicalirious
I found a box and jammed it with jazz

Great to see this being inspired by Jazz, which is what I felt mostly with Bop…. maybe we can say it was a bop-bop
The moment I read BOP, jazz was all my muse could think about — even tried a couple other directions Björn, but ultimately it was only jazz… 😉
I somehow knew you would pick up the beat. I’d love a box jammed with jazz.
Jazz just spoke to me on this one True… 🙂
You put the bop in the Bop, Rob, and jazzed it to a tee. A most amazing read! ????
So pleased you dug this Dora. It was wonderful to write my friend… 🙂
Jazz all the way! Love your take on this BOP form, Rob!
Ghank you so much Carol… 🙂
bebop indeed Rob – and you put so much of that in your totally musicalirious box! such an enjoyable read Rob –
Thank you so much Laura! I am very pleased this resonated for you my friend. Thank you for this fascinating prompt, I’d never heard of the Bop form, but thoroughly enjoyed the challenge… 🙂
I loved your Bop, Rob, especially the alliterative refrain and beat-bop jazziness of the whole poem.
Thank you Kim. It was a blast to write… 🙂
This is great, Rob. A very unique perspective.
Thank you Robbie… 🙂
Rob, you chose not only music but jazz music. You know the lingo too, which makes it so much better. Improv Jazz truly is heaven and infuses the soul with it.
It certainly springs from the spirit Lisa, in that way it is divine… 🙂
Requesting permission to jump inside your Jazz Box … with my jazzy flute! A Stupendous poem, Rob. OH and the art too.
Thank you Helen… 😉

Bought that album my junior year in college. Great taste my friend… 🙂
“Jamming it with Jazz” is a perfect alliteration for this poem. Good place to keep things, the boxes.

What an amazing write, Rob! You jazzed the bop. Love it.
Thank you Punam… 🙂
I would love a box jamming with jazz! I loved this line…ride’n the bliss of improv in scat. Wonderful Bop
