The Keeper
don’t drift or lose center
misaligned emotions
betray a balanced self
forsake prejudice
renounce isms
abandon agendas
beware truth
you are the perpetual presence
the constant sentinel
the witness to justice
the tinker of time
the precarious precision
rests in your neutral grip
you are the keeper
of the great machine

Great take. Really went for this one.
Excellent, Rob.
Beautiful advice…I needed to hear this today…thanks Rob…
Wonderful words, important message.
This is such a great warning. My poem speaks to what happens when you govern your life by “misaligned emotions.” Beautifully written
you are the perpetual presence…great responsibility in this…and not always easy to not lose balance..speaks to me about the inner keeper of ourselves..
Fantastic, a poem that makes you want to stand up and yell YES!
At the risk of sounding narcissistic I think this delightful and articulate piece is perfect for someone with bipolar disorder. There are so many things I can do to help myself and not be rules by emotions, which are fickle. Beautifully cut and executed Rob.
lots of good truths in this sir…it is a great responsibility….
Interesting idea of the neutral grip and the suggestion of objectivity for the machine’s keeper. I wonder how long such objectivity might last. Cool write.
Let us hope and trust that, at the core of life, neutrality (balance) can last forever — otherwise, life is doomed James… and remember, neutrality/balance, does not mean ‘lack of motion’. In fact, something can be traveling at the speed of light, and still maintain neutrality — in fact, to achieve such great velocity, inherent neutrality/balance would be essential…
“the tinker of time” wonderful~!!! Great poem, thank-you Rob~!
We are all keepers of the earth and we do need to take that responsibility seriously. I enjoyed your poem as always, Rob. Thank you for sharing.
The Absolute Truth…
Crystal clear!
