as chords of anguish resonate pained and low
my bent being reverberates a suffered thrum
regret plucks strung memories as teardrops flow
shadows slink in this dark’ning room
‘cross cold silk curtains soaked with gloom
echoes of a lover’s dirge enflame my sorrow
a refrain of grief in this gilded tomb

Where the music of sad songs and lost love meet. Your words match the photo perfectly Rob. Captivating, heart wrenching and beautiful all in one. Lovely writing as always! So glad you joined us this week Rob!
Thank you for your very gracious words Carrie! 🙂 My pleasure to participate
In your opening line one can feel the tension, the grief is heavy as is the mourning/morning.
Glad this touched you True…
Like your take on this Rob 🙂
Thank you Edwin.
That second stanza is amazing, Rob!
You are most kind Sara. The second stanza was written first, but I decided to end with it because it had a little stronger flow.
The cello should be the instrument of grief. It so captures the tone very well. This is a beautiful piece of music.
Thak you Lori, you are most gracious!
Although the cello is a sad sounding instrument, I play it. I love
“La Musica Notturna delle Strade di Madrid. No. 6, Op. 30” by Boccherini – a lovely and lilting bit of music that puts happy in your step. It took me two months to learn to play it and I also play it on the violin. Although this is a very sad and broken picture.
I LOVE th cello Toni! Cello can conjure forth gorgeously melancholy emotions. It is doing this, for me, when the cello is at its very best. This photo, as I see it, was the cello in it’s most heavy and mournful essence — which I love. Cello, for me, can call forth greater sadness than the violin — because of it’s capacity for guttural depth.
You did justice to this poem Rob. I feel the weight of your words.
It is a heavy subject that require diligent effectiveness of character and the willingness to play and be played— well!
Sorry, I meant ‘to this image’.
I meant to say thank you! 🙂
Beautiful, Rob.
Thank you again Sherry… 🙂
“Cello darkness my old friend…”
😉
Visiting this poem again was a pleasure Rob. The poem couples the image well. This was another favorite for me of the images.
I loved it Carrie… 🙂
The Lover’s Dirge – a lament of loss that is deeply felt. That image is haunting just like the sound the cello makes.
That image is filled with emotion True, very deeply moving.
