time has etched a patina
on the heart of the sun
and marked my soul
with the scars of love and loss
equally deep
equally cherished

A kinship, doubly felt.
This is simply beautiful ….
so true of the heart, wonderful
You have looked into the heart
of scars and found them more
beautiful than tattoos, and sadder
than dead leaves, reminding us
that nature leaves the scars,
visible and hidden, to chronicle
our folly, our arrogance, and
a warning that rash movements
can lead to pitted landscapes.
i simply adore it…
nice!

Evocative and romantic. Nice, Rob.
“…time has etched a patina
on the heart of the sun…” Very nice.
Patina are always beautiful…
oops1 Patinas, plural, that should be!
“The scars of love and loss” — I know them well.
Thanks for an excellent Magpie.

I love the image that came with this poem excellent job
Resonated with me, especially in the creases of a poem I recently wrote: “Her Soul’s Envelope”:
