W isps of cloud
occasionally smudge
the sterling moon
an enthralling cacophony
of night
swaddles us
we gaze skyward
in blissful intoxication
through the silver gilded
canopy of old growth
surrounding this clearing
deep in the forest
lushly savoring
the sensuous afterglow
of our moondance

Love your brilliant word-play Rob! You have the gift of expression that baffles us in awe!
Hank
Thank you Hank. I start with a phrase built from a word, and follow it — hoping it leads somedhere.
Quite beautiful, Rob! I enjoyed reading.
Thank you very much Lucy. The poem I wrote in response to this prompt which I am most proud of, is the one entitled Soul-Stained, which was inspired both by this prompt of ”smudge”, as well as a collage that I created in 1996, entitled “Eden’s Desolation”, that I feature here with my poem.
cloud smudging the sterling moon as you savor the afterglow so romantic in that special clearing in the old growth forest. magical!
Thank you Lisa. I wander into that old growth forest time and again. 🙂
Well done Rob. The smudge of the moon by the clouds works very well. This also reminded me of the Moon Shadow Song!
Thank you Dwight! Yes certainly another great song option.
Lovely use of the word smudge and that sounds like a heavenly Moondance.
Thank you True. I did the first rejoicing and the second regretting.
I always choose the frequency of love it is my mantra in life. I will have to read your second poem of regret. We all have a few. Sigh..
Your wordcraft is hypnotic….
The poem I was referring to as a poem of regret is the one I entitled Soul-Stained. That one is a reflection regarding the human race is destroying this planet we live upon, and everyone’s shared shame as a result. Thank you True for your always kind words.
You are at your romantic, moonlit best here Rob!
I just let my love freak flag fly! Got into a romantic rumble. If you ever read the words on left top corner of front page of this blood – you will know why I write what i write and conduct myself as I do!
Rob, I once went to a Van Morrison concert, and it was one of the best I’d ever been to. I love him.
This makes me think of lovers lying together…
lovely.

David
Van the Man is tremendous, znd he is always surrounded by superb musicians. Your interpretation of my poem here is absolutely spot on. That is clearly the primary image I envisioned in writing it. Thank you David.
Nice work, Rob. Dance on in them woods, Bro!
Thanks Ron — Just call me treetop twinkle toes… 😉
This feels so magical, an earthy yet dreamy setting for romance. I like the way the clouds smudge the moon!
Love in wild nature is sublime Mish, sets the spirit, and the spirit animal — completely free.
I often realize how differently I see the moon… in summer when I can imagine dancing outdoors with a loved one it’s often too much light to enjoy the moon… In winter when the moon is bright it’s way too cold.
Wow Bjorn, I never thought about the fact geographically, you share a different perspective and circumstance with regard to the moon.
as your 3rd stanza rightfully names it – lush ~
Thank you!
So very well done. Love the use of smudge here.
Pat
Thank you Pat! 🙂
So romantic – ‘enthralling cacophony of night’ -I think this is beautiful.
Thank you Marion! 🙂
