Mysterium

From the spark of cognizance
at the dawn of awareness
through the eons of fire and conflict

forward past the dark times
advancing through the ages of change
traversing the renaissance
moving in the era of enlightenment
into these centuries of new growth
they have kept it

locked in their hearts
burning in their souls

the keepers of the keys
protecting the sacred secret

and now
on the threshold of actualization
realizations unfold

its safeguard is the catalyst
driving time and space
ensuring the ultimate balance

the locks must never be loosed
it must never be told
never unveiled
eternal must be the search

the truth inherent
beyond comprehension

that which is
is
because it must
ever be

perfecta mysterium
ad infinitum

  1. I read it on the blog page. I clicked tge link to see you read but no response. The link is not working

Thanks for dropping by my blog

    Much????love

    1. It is working fine for me Gillena, the click the “Click Here” button, and the video reading plays automatically, 🙂 so I have no way to know why it won’t work. I am so very sorry. 🙁

  2. This feels like something you might find carved upon a plinth in the forest, the words ringing in your ears among the trees.

  3. I must say, as I read your poem (great!) I could hear a booming male theatrical voice reciting it at the beginning of an epic movie about outer space starring (I will let you choose the star.)

        1. I figured out why my reading video won’t play for you, and others Helen. I am on WordPress, you, snd all those who can’t get it to play are on Blogger. Blogger and WordPress have never learn to play nice together, and it frustrates the hell out of me! This is going on in many other incidences on many other issues for a long long time. I will try to see if there’s a solution, but unfortunately I’m not holding my breath. Sorry I won’t play for you Helen but I think that’s the reason why.

  4. This is wonderfully written. As to the age of enlightenment, I think we are a far ways from there. Sigh. We seem to have forged past it into the age of darkness. I love the sense of mystery in this poem, and the closing lines which underscore it.

    1. I was referring more to the historical period referred to as the age of enlightenment, that followed the historical dark ages. But like a pendulum Sherry, I feel the energy of our collective species has swung back yo sn elevated dark ages. I pray it is short-lived… 😐

  5. Mysterium – I love that word! You have captured the mystery of life, the gatekeepers and key-holders. Some things are not meant to be known. The mystery continues from generation to generation. Your poem has a vibe of other worldliness.

      1. Rob, you wrote in an organic tongue, traveling the vein of a mystic..this is the stuff that moves me to deeper thought. So, well done.

        How are you, my friend?

  6. I just watched you read this exquisite poem. I was transfixed by your reading, and your perfectly poetic voice. Bravo!

    1. Sorry about that Rosemary. I wish I had an answer. It works for me, and it works for Sara McNulty, who I believe is in Florida. You might be correct. For some reason it won’t work outside the USA? I also noticed that both you and Gillena are both on the Blogger platform. Sara and I are both on WordPress. So maybe the playback doesn’t work for Blogger sites? I know in the past other issues have come up as far as compatibility between Blogger and WordPress. I regret that I don’t know what I can do.

  7. I’m sorry I couldn’t watch you read your enigmatic poem here in the UK Rob, but that did nothing to spoil my enjoyment of reading it, not once but thrice. A for that lovely piece of music, I’ve saved it to my playlist!

  8. This is mysterious, the truth beyond our comprehension. Maybe that’s why nobody seems to know what truth is anymore. But I know what dad would say. Doesn’t matter how many times you repeat a lie, it’s still a lie. Thanks for visiting me!

    1. Thank you Yvonne, and your father is correct. “Truth beyond our comprehension” is a reference to the reality of the miracle of life snd existence, that, try as we might wish, we can never, with our finite minds, ever understand it all — but it is “THE” profound truth at the core of everything. We can recognize that the truth is there, we can respect it deeply, we can marvel at it — but we can never fullcomprehend it,

  9. Oh and isn’t it great that you understand we are not supposed to fully comprehend the mysteries and the profound truth….This gives you a spiritual dimension to your existence and a foundation for your creativity and imagination which sadly most of the population in the west no longer have. You know what Rob….you have nicely mellowed over the years:)

    1. Thank you Rall 🙂 … not that being legally dead for a brief moment, the result of CHF, then resurrected to be fitted with a Pacemaker, didn’t mellow my outlook on life… it has, and it hasn’t. All depends on how I feel each morning when I awaken. It has given me a gratitude for life, and the need to champion being alive, inclusively for everyone — while not personally fearing death. So yes, guess
      I have mellowed my friend… 😉
