This is the summer of the soul. A time of serious contemplation, and a time of great joy! This is a solemn Summer Solstice, scarred with wounds, yet so rich with possibility. A time to shout, voices raised in happiness, voices raised in insistence — every voice full, every shout to be heard, every song sung full throat! A bright and golden time for change, a time for moving forward. A time to warm our hearts in the sun of a brand new day. Not to forget the struggles, but to use them as a clearing to a shining tomorrow. A time to believe.
Yes, there may be wafts of smoke in the trees, but also carried on the breeze, are the songs of birds, the aroma of flowers, of the rich soil of the earth, of the grasses, leaves, and conifer needles — the fragrance’s of new birth, the heady intoxication of new dreams. This is the true bouquet of summer. Let this Summer Solstice mark an honest effort to make all the dreams a reality! For the summer sun shines on everyone. May each experience be one of warmth and rejuvenation.

Much love to you Gillena, thank you… 🙂
Yes! A clarion call to hope on this summer solstice. Well done, Rob!
Thank you Frank! 🙂
Oh I loved this Rob! Thank you for the beautiful videos too.
Thank you Christine. Though currently battling COVID with an ongoing Paxlovid regimen, in the midst of what was supposed to be my cardiac rehabilitation — this piece genuinely reflects a mindset I am endeavoring to embrace, pulling out of my horrible Spring, and into a hopeful Summer! 🙂
Hope follows the smoke! I enjoyed your postive and hopeful poem Rob.
Thank you Dwight. After my frightening Spring debacles, that saw a critically debilitating health decline, brought on by a life-threatening exacerbation of my congestive heart failure (CHF), an induced Torsemide-flush of 40 pounds of water weight, my 3rd echocardiogram and nuclear stress test, my 4th angioplasty, an insertion of my 5th heart stent, and now finding myself feeling miserable, immersed in a 5-day, 30-pill Paxlovid regimen because I currently have, just this past Friday, contracted COVID-19 — I needed to summon up, embrace, and poetically express an emotional state of positivity and possibility. That is the essence of my “New Day”, and I am clinging hard to it.
That’s a really beautiful haibun Rob. <3
I hope you have many more bright days, and better health soon.
Thank you Kate. 🙂
Thank you for this, Rob.
Here’s to better days.
Thanks Ken… 🙂

wonderful Rob–an incantation of hope–just what we need right now
Thank you Kerfe! It was so easy to write, it just sprang from someplace deep inside.
An inspiring read.
Thank you Xan!
Wonderful poem, Rob. It reads like a prayer of hope for the good of today and tomorrow! Well done.
Thank you Dwight… 🙂
This is beautiful and full of hope. It’s a good thing to read today when the news is so bleak.
I’m sorry about you battling Covid in addition to other health issues. I hope you’re feeling better soon.
Thank you Merril, feel like I perhaps may be setting the scales balanced for my wild and crazy youth! 😉
In light of recent events, I deeply appreciate finding this ode to fecundity, abundance, and hope, to a new era of earth-centered love and light. Beautifully captured!
Thank you Anna. I am sending out this spirit energy, hoping it will stir others to embody and pass it on — until it is so. Even though negative energies are pushing back vigorously, this is still the Age of Aquarius, and I don’t mean the musical Hair, or the 5th Dimension’s song. The age of Aquarius is, to the mindful, a time to expand consciousness, to align with the earth and become more mindful of, and proponents of human rights. It’s a time to seek more collaboration and more connections with like-minded individuals, to empower the elevation of the radiance, vitality, compassion, and love (Chi) of the people of this earth. A time to encourage others toward this enlightenment. I certainly am not perfect, but from my love of the natural world, I feel compelled to stir the awareness of the benefit of living a life in balance, of elevating our embrace of love-based cooperation. And as the human species, and only a part of the inhabitants of this home we call earth, to acknowledge our profound connection to, and responsibilities to the ways of nature and the needs of the natural world. We need to celebrate human possibility to these ends.
A beautiful ode to hope.
Thank you Sara… 🙂
