Nightfire
you fling it open
for the first time
but I’m gone
I have moved on
to be the clarion
for the ages to come
I am become
a nightfire
a whisper of the elders
rising in the night
a hallowed murmur
of enlightenment
a persistent echo
of the knowledge
of the ancestors
a frail flagging flame
of the sacred fire
its embers
now near ashen
but still aglow
in a world out of balance
I will help stir to flame
the smoldering wisdom
from times well past
unto time eternal
I am become

“a hallowed murmur of enlightenment, a persistent echo of the knowledge of the ancestors, a frail flagging flame of the sacred fire,” your descriptions are second to none, Rob 🙂 This is outstanding!
Wow Sanaa, thank you. I kinda went into a zone writing this piece. Felt like a conduit for words. Kept spilling out onto the page. Extremely satisfying write it was!

“in a world out of balance
I will help stir to flame
the smoldering wisdom
from times well past
unto time eternal
I am become”
So powerful!

For what its worth, its written in the Talmud,
that a spark of truth is found everywhere.
Shalom. – Tzvi
Thank you Tzvi! I believe their is a spark of truth in everything.life is Yin & Yang. Everything possesses truth and untruth, dark and light, positive and negative — it is the presence of noth in life that keeps the essential balance, or there eould be no existence.
I love how this poem sparks warm and the desire to do, rather than retreat. Cheers! KK
Thank you KK…:)
Engrossing lines, Rob. Purpose does give one a path to becoming, doesn’t it? That line was awesome.
Thank you Dora… 🙂
I am become … what a great ending which made me thinking that from the fire you’re a phoenix rising from the ashes.
The world hopefully will become a phoenix Blorn.
There’s a lot of insight in this piece, not to mention some very fine music.
Thank you Misky, I’m glad. 🙂
I feel too that there is a resurrection in the nightfire, the firebird and ancestors seem to work in mystical ways.
I like the hopeful guidance of this.
Thank you Ken!
