~
the sound of music
can fill the air
it can slip right through the tiniest hole
it can fill a room
it can fill your soul
the power of music has great potential
its power to fill
is exponential
feeling deflated — hope won’t float
music will fill it up
note by note
it can fill the void in an empty life
it can obliterate sadness
eliminate strife
it can flow into the remotest part
filling full
a lonely heart
score or lyric in your favorite style
will fill your face
with a bursting smile
music is powerful and invasive stuff
but in this angry world
can there be enough

This prompt was tailor-made for your meter sensibility. I love that you chose a positive spin on invasiveness.
Thank you Xan! I think even after 56 years, I have written yet another set of lyrics — now I just need the music.
Music certainly can be invasive and overpowering. Was this in the Plath style? I dug the poem, even sans tercets.
This is in the full-throttle, high-speed Kistner style of tercets Glenn. 🙂
Music is life to me. I very much enjoyed reading your tribute to the mighty life-giver, music.
Glad you enjoyed this Lisa! 🙂
Sylvia Plath could have done with a dose of this, poor woman.
Yes Jame, most definitely. There are many who would be well served to let music seep in and not just wash over.
I’m happy that music is everywhere, although there are some kinds of music that I’d prefer not to hear! I like the sentiment in the tercet:
‘it can fill the void in an empty life
it can obliterate sadness
eliminate strife’
and your poem made me smile, Rob.
Thank you Kim, glad it turned up your lip tips! 🙂 i agree, not all music is my favorite, but I love to hear music because it is the expression of the human heart and spirit — and that is positive!
Nice invading stuff.
Thank you RICARDO! 🙂
Your rhyming style is ever so pleasing to me, and this was such a happy “take” on invasiveness. Bravo, my friend!
Thank you very much Bev, I am pleased you enjoyed this.
There are actually some music that invades me like weed… growing inside until it fills me with itch… then I need something to clear my head… Led Zeppelin works.
I hear you. Some poetry makes my skin crawl. We all have our favorites. That said, music is invasive Björn, but thank the muses for it. A world without music would be even more angry that it is already.
So glad to see a poet go positive with this prompt – wish I’d thought of it! And yes music does permeate blood and bone vibrating each cell into harmony with itself. For that we can be truely grateful.
Music is what makes life worth living Christine. Life without music, would not be worth the energy to live it!
I love how you take a different tack, as posed by that question, which I love and think, no, never enough.
Thank you Paul — no, never enough!:-)
Beautiful tribute to music!
Thank you Astrid!
aaah! i cannot agree more. invasive that’s worth loving!
🙂
Great take on the prompt with fun, fun rhyme.
Thank you Sabio.
