Ripples

A pair of Tankas in response to Linda Lee Lyberg’s “water” prompt at dVerse.

Ripples

Reflections
~
memories of you
ripples on a mirrored lake
rise and drift gently
into the golden sunlight
carrying me on their crest

clear blue summer sky
deep azure crystalline lake
cool breeze on my face
fresh scent of water lilies
ripples gently lap the boat

    1. I capped my long poem with a tanka too; great minds. I never became a fisherman, but I went fishing with my grandfather hundreds of times; it was the same with hunting.

    2. I love the interior journey of the first tanka, and then the precise being here now of the second. Combining the two gives them both such power and resonance, sharing the ripples each create and integrating them into something greater and filled with potentials. Lovely!
