– feeling the warmth of early spring sun
– wandering through old growth forests
– seeing the sunset into the pacific
– breathing in the fragrance of summer
– seeing joy in another’s eyes
– hearing my grandson’s laughter
– being breath-taken by art
– being dazzled by autumn’s palette
– tasting the richness of chocolate
– being immersed in the rhythms of music
– feeling the softness of my lover’s lips
– seeing the morning dew sparkle
– hearing the sweet lilt of a thrush
– knowing the quiet of snowfall
– raising my voice in song
– drifting on a clear mountain lake
– getting lost in poetry
– feeling my lover’s gentle touch
these are some ingredients
of my wonderful life
…my secret ingredient:

Every one a special and unique ingredient!
The spices of life Dwight, for which I am most grateful…
That ending is perfect!
Thank you Silver. Without that secret ingredient, the taste of life becomes bland…
A beautiful ingredient worthy of recognition.
The essential in ingredient Astrid… without it the soul goes unnourished…
Life is lovely with that perspective!
Life is a gift to be appreviated Lynn… 🙂
that last line is essential! such a delightful and positive poem, Rob! those spices photo reminds me of India. 🙂
Yes RW, that last ingredient is absolutely essential. Not to be crass, but that photo makes me drool just a bit… 😉
A list of wonderful ingredients, Rob. My favourites are ‘ hearing my grandson’s laughter’ and ‘getting lost in poetry’ and being thankful is a perfect secret ingredient. 🙂
Yes Kim, hearing Alex (my grandson) laugh so thoroughly, and so innocently, and with such pure and genuine “Joie de vivre”, sometimes puts tears of joy in my eyes – and it is the primary reason this failing 71-year-old heart continues to beat! 🙂
Amen….amen to that! As I say every morning when we awake, thankful for every day. 🙂
We never know Lillian, when it might be our last day, so tell your loved ones “I love you” once a day, and be genuinely mindfully grateful for the gift of life.
Oh you need to stir in that last one for a perfect life…
It holds the rest of the ingredients together Bjorn… 😉
And many more blessings to come with that final ingredient!
I so agree Amaya – gratitude begetts more reasons to be grateful…
Sounds like you’ve found the recipe, Rob…beautiful poem…JIM
Thank you very much Jim… 🙂 I always try to manifest gratitude.
Being thankful…love the reminder.
It’s so important Grace, and it enriches the gifts we are given… 🙂
What a perfect ending, and a reminder to us all.
Hi Sara! I remind myself all the time… 🙂
Thankfulness is a great secret ingredient.
Yes, and one many “chefs” leave out…
Such a lovely list of ingredients, but it’s that last one that makes the rest matter. A wonderful reminder, Rob.
Thank you Merril, I try to remind myself often… :-/)
