Fair winds arise, soon fair spring will arrive
rain’s damp shadow held winter long this year
but now the skies above begin to clear
as shadows lift, my humor may survive
the seasons bow to greet this interlude
new seeds push eager sprouts through warming earth
all nature cycles to this time of birth
as if to hail my brightened attitude
bold buds pop forth through ripe and ready limb
songs of birds lilt sweetly through greening trees
fragrance of blooms wafts softly in the breeze
fresh waters push clear streams beyond their brim
all ’round the hues and sound of boisterous spring
shadows retreat, my heart begins to sing

Nice one. The darkness dissipates and its Spring again
much love
Thank you Gillena — much love to you my friend… 🙂
I like your sonnet about Spring Rob – has some very nice rhymes though the prompt stipulates a Shadow Sonnet – a very specific sonnet form to this so you might want to pop back and re-read the prompt
Really tried Laura, just can’t seem to go there… 🙁 … sorry.
La-la-laaaa… I want to sing along, Rob.
Challenge well-met, Bro. Congrats.
Thank you Ron! 1, 2, 1,2,3 —- now everybody sing…. 😉
very, very lovely, Rob.

Thank you David… :)…but it sadly fails the shadow sonnet test.
Really beautiful lines there Rob..
Thank you Ain, but as Laura pointed it, it falls outside the rules of a shadow sonnet. There are simply places I can’t go.
Rob, I love it! I hear the word sonnet and I’m back to English Lit in primary school when I truly didn’t get it. Still don’t ????
Pat
I get the Sonnet, just am apparently not creatively drawn to the Shadow Sonnet — but I tried… 🙂
A trifecta of delight with your musical choices, Rob.
Can’t miss with the ‘Pool Boys’ (Liverpool)… 🙂
So glad the shadows are retreating, we need the sunlight, and you brought it, Rob!
Thank you Tricia… 🙂
I enjoyed your sonnet! I don’t think, in fact I know, I failed with the challenge also. But we tried didn’t we!
Thank you Carol… 🙂 …and yes we did.
A beautiful Sonnet Rob. When the shadows shorten it makes us all feel better! Well done.
Thank you Dwight… 🙂
An absolute masterpiece! I loved the lines
“all ’round the hues and sound of boisterous spring
shadows retreat, my heart begins to sing” 🙂
Thank you Veera… 🙂
Truly a time for singing. Beautiful Rob.
Look! Over yonder! That’s Spring comin’ Kerfe…! 🙂
