The Snake Charmer, Henri Rousseau, 1907
•
ever hissing ever hissing
the smooth slithered snake
stealthily winds its slender self
to slowly settle in the shadows
to set its searching sights
on its unsuspecting prey
an ever patient sentry
coiled to seize its precious prize
with surety of purpose
this silent sleek assassin
will strike swift and certain
never missing never missing

Great alliteration and imagery, Rob. Would love to hear you read it!
A tongue twister to be sure … I always look forward to your Magpies!
Those silvery syllables sound like Voldermort!
such sibilants such sounds!
Lovely stuff, especially the first stanza.
Anna :o]
your alliteration slithered down the poem like a serpent
nice
Beautiful…and takes skill to read aloud…
