She is gone
she’s gone
how could she leave
why
I’m lost without her
you know
don’t you dog
I see it in your eyes
the sadness there
sadness I recognize
pressing in
so heavy on my heart
yes
she’s gone boy
lost forever
into that place
beyond us here
I’m scared boy
cold
you shiver
you feel it too
don’t you boy
I feel so alone
hurt
so sad
I hear your sorrowful whimper
guess we share that now
in our broken hearts
sorry boy
I’m no comfort here
but stay
stay here boy
I need you now
that’s a good dog
I know
I know
me too boy
me too

Addressing this to the dog makes it, imo. I could feel this one, Rob.
Glad it resonated for you Shay… 🙂
I can feel the loss and pain in this Rob. The companionship of a dog can definitely ease the ache.
Dog can mend a child’s broken heart Carrie.
Gah! This goes straight to my heart. No one knows and shares our sadness the way our fur companions do. Dogs have such empathy, such heart. I envy you your dog’s company, though. I have to weather my sadness without one, and I sure miss the comfort they bring.
They know!
Heartbreaking, and a dialogue heard too many times I fear.

A child with a broken heart needs a dog.
Moving poem (and the dogs are going to find themselves being hugged for no reason, shortly)!
Hope so Chrissa… 😉
like a hug, the shared melancholy is pertinent in your poem
Happy Sunday Rob
much love…
Much love Gillena… 🙂
I feel this.
I’m pleased JR.
The loss is palpable. Animals have a basic instinct and “know” when we humans are hurting. Especially, dogs and cats they are
perceptive.
Yes, it’s true — True… 🙂
To hold onto something warm, alive, soft, comforting …. can make all the difference. I know, and you know too. Coming off of an almost two week upper respiratory infection. (no virus) and would love a puppy to pet right now.
Sorry 🙁 …Hope you’re doing much better Helen. I get those occasionally — they suck.
Furbabies always have a heart that loves and ears that listen. Beautiful and sorrowful. I’m glad she has someone who cares.
The look on that little girls face Lisa — I had to have her talk to her dog.
Love the patience shown Rob! It is nice to be reassured!
Hank
Thank you Hank…
I could feel every part of this, Rob. So well written!
Thank you Sara!
Oh, this goes straight to my heart. So beautiful
Thank you! Glad it resonates for you Susie.
