Damaged in our special ways
we like the path unclear
fond of stumbling in
fumbling through
to find the way that’s ours
we seek grace and form
from brilliant imbalance
seduced by the muse
we’re drawn to the mystery
and the wonder
it conceals

“to find the way that’s ours”
so true
Must certainly Ron.
The muse can lead us into those caves of mystery… sometimes maybe even so deep down it will be hard to find our way back
Yes Bjorn, but only in getting lost do we find ourself, find who we are when it isn’t easy. No benefit unless challenged. No pain, no gain.
Seduced we are, dangerously…lovely aliteration there…
Thank you Ain. Oh, but what lovely seduction, and such beautiful mystery.
Oh yes and what a wonderful seduction it is! 🙂
Keeps me upright and alive Sanaa! 😉
I feel that “fumbling” and “stumbling” big time, lately. Can relate!
Fumblin’ stumblin’ fool — that’s me. I am so uncertain, about so much, so often — I am conviced I know nothin’, and De, what I think I know, is likely wrong.
Oh Rob, you sing the truth in your quadrille. It is just-so <3
Thank you Lisa! 🙂
Stumbling in & fumbling through, with or without a muse is really what writing’s all about, eh? I try not to be too muse-dependent. That way, even though I have to bear the shame for any bad work, I get all the glory for my masterpieces. Muse, Schmuse, I say.
Fine work, RK. Thanks.
Thank you my friend. You are stronger than me Ron. I always like a scapegoat… 😉 🙂
P.S. I *LOVE* what Cohen says at the end of the video about Baudelaire’s passage.
Cohen was the “man” Lisa… 🙂
The last stanza is the brilliant discovery Rob! It makes life worth the living when it is mystifyingly attractive to our expectations. Only those who are led by an active lifestyle will find easily such moments and not otherwise. Best wishes for the ensuing year, sir!
Hank
Thank you Hank! May 2022 be full of hope, love, and understanding.
I would agree with you, my muse is always leading me down new dark pathways. Her charms, irresistible, although I often end up quite lost. Clever one, Rob.
Thank you K… 🙂
“…to find the way that’s ours /
…we’re drawn to the mystery
and the wonder”
Yes, regardless of medium, that is the creative’s path.
Yes indeed Raivenne… 🙂
You have described how poetry forms is such a beautiful way…
I love this…
we seek grace and form
from brilliant imbalance
Thank you so much Dwight… 🙂
Ah yes the muse can be that mischievous.
Intriquing quadrille
Much love…
thank you Gillena, much love to you.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
-David
Aren’t we all, to some degree or another David — poets are simply able to assemble, name, and reprise the quirks they possess — and engagingly relate the ones that are the common threads of humanity… making their creations deeply relevant.
To be seduced is the only way, isn’t it, Rob! Wonderful quadrille.
Yes it is Punam, and it is beautiful!
Yes, so drawn to that mystery, always, loved this Rob
Thank you Paul. Life, emotions, other’s reactionx to both — so many mysteries. All under the umbrella of mystery #1 — what’s all about… Alfie
“we seek grace and form from brilliant imbalance” is such a perfect evocation of what a poet does.
Glad that resonated for you Xan… 🙁
Seduced by the mystery. What a fantastic way to view writing.
Thank you Carol. It always feels much like that to me… 🙂
This beautifully captures the magic of spinning the written word into a compelling narrative. Love! <3
Thank you so much Jaya, I am pleased this resonated for you… 🙂
“we seek grace and form
from brilliant imbalance.”
The eternally expanding mandala.
I thoroughly enjoyed this! The cadence, the crafting, and the message.
“we seek grace and form
from brilliant imbalance”
Those words nailed down life perfectly.
The winds, weather, tides, and reason to get up every day, all stem from an imbalance. Balance spawns the doldrums.
I agree wholeheartedly Susan. 🙂
This is one of the truest poems I have read . Wonderfully written. I echo what Lisa says about the Cohen interview too.
Thank you Marion… 🙂
“seek grace and form
from brilliant imbalance”
“drawn to it…” Truth! Lovely.
Thank Selma!
So late to the reading…apologies. LOVE the title and image used and am most smitten with these words:
“we seek grace and form
from brilliant imbalance”
Thank you Lillian. I am pleased this resonated for you… 🙂
