Wow — it is so hard to believe
that it’s finally time to leave
the spaceport
last night I nearly opted out
lying in bed thinking about
this spaceflight
I am nervous — I’m telling you
I fear at blast off I might poo
my spacesuit
but it’s damned cool that of this crew
I am the one who gets to do
the spacewalk
is this to me a dream come true
yes — if they keep me tethered to
the spacecraft

Great fun, Rob. I hope you managed to keep your space suit pristine!
Thank you Bev… 🙂 …I’ve heard they are designed to accommodate a bit of debris…
I loved this, been a space geek all my life, lol.
Thank you! Me too… 😉
How cool it is to do that space walk. Sail away into that spacecraft.
It would be fun Grace, but I’d love to try to do a poo-less one… 😉
David Bowie’s orange hair and spiffy spacesuit never were better honored. Your levity was terrific, and as you said to me, you almost stayed within the form. Fun is the word, giving NASA the bird.
Thanks Glenn, and I got the form dead-on here — unusual for me. Though I got a headache getting those 883’s to come out right. 🙂
you aced the form Rob and I love your fantasy flight, go do that walk … at least gravity won’t leave any tell-tale droppings …
Thank you Kate. It has been so long since I have been able to walk pain free – the weightlessness of space would be fantastic!
Rob,
I couldn’t stop laughing long after reading this. You mastered the form to submit to your wicked humor and boy, what a spaceflight! Loved it. (P.S. Had to read aloud to my family, so much fun.)
pax,
dora
Thank you Dora, so glad you enjoyed this. 😉
This did make me laugh, Rob, especially the idea of the nervous astronaut soiling his spacesuit. I feel like this about normal flying, so I don’t think you’d ever get me up in a rocket!
Glad you enjoyed this Ingrid. I used to fly every week, 2-3 times, the years I was with Lucasfilm. Now my health won’t allow me to fly.
What fun it would be to spacewalk, however frightening! Fun read, Rob.
🙂 Punam!
As they say … ROFLOL … even if it’s not what they say, I felt like rolling on the floor laughing out loud.
Glad you liked it Helen… 😉
So much fun, Rob! This made me smile.
It made me think of William Shatner’s recent space outing (not that he did a space walk, but. . .).
I bet Shatner was wearing Depends… 😉
Also, did you ever see Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield play Space Oddity while actually in space? I just find it amazing.
I have a vague memory of that Merril.
great choice of song to go with your poem. it tickled my funny bone.
Thank you Rog! 🙂
As said by Major Tom until he was left drifting away… love it.
Thsnk you Bjorn! 🙂
What a trip that would be! You rocked the form to outerspace! Great job!
Thank you Tricia.
