Original digital realistic art entitled “The Wiles of Water” by: rob kistner © 7/19/23
Here I trod this old stone road
observing the evidence of last night’s rain
gorging this oft’ dry viaduct
some nestled in these path-side ruts
resting before their homeward journey
when they’ll rejoin their rightful place
as part of earth’s life-giving waters
returning as part of the restorative cycle
evaporating — misting skyward
penetrating the thirsty earth
or running off to join a river or stream
they are tenacious, persistent
always seeking their natural way
they’ll break beyond these futile bounds
returning to their origin – the azure sea
these are ever the wiles and ways of water

As a sometime geographer, I love this evocation of the water cycle told in poetic form – nice digital art too…
Ghznk you Frewin, very much… 🙂
Nice one, Rob! I especially enjoyed these lines:
‘evaporating — misting skyward
penetrating the thirsty earth
or running off to join a river or stream’
– oh yes, ‘the wiles and ways of water’.
Thznk you Kim… 🙂
The wiles and ways of water … and those of the human mind 🙂
The waters I can handle right now, but my mind I’m not sure. Thank you for your kind words.
The Wiles of Water indeed! Yes, so persistent. Lovely, Rob.
Thank you very much Merril… 🙂
I like your refreshing poetry and art depicting the wiles of water, Rob!
Thank you Lynn… 🙂
This is absolutely stellar writing here, Rob! I especially admire; “evaporating — misting skyward penetrating the thirsty earth or running off to join a river or stream they are tenacious, persistent
always seeking their natural way.” 🙂
Thank you Sanaa… 🙂
