To all d’Verse poets — Salùte!
this wine of friendship
ripened well with time
aged to a vintage true
may this nectar rare
sweeten all our days
may its heady warmth
linger long and lush
lighten life’s burdens
and ever lift our spirits
here’s to us!

A friendly drinking song, Rob! I like the phrases ‘ripened well with time’ and ‘aged to a vintage true’.

To friendship Merril! 🙂
“May this nectar rare, sweeten all our days”. You nailed the sentiment and prompt, brother; definitely sweet, not dry. More from your softer side…
Thanks bro, nice to see you visiting again. Even an old curmudgeon like me can get gushy sometimes… 🙂
I especially love your use of alliteration here, Rob. Well done.
Thank you De. I love a good toast. The perfect opportunity for public poetry… 🙂

Cheers to you my friend! 🙂
A great toast!
Thank you sir! 🙂
I treasured vintage friendships. Unfortunately, I’ve outlived most of mine, sad to say, but when I fall off the perch there’s going to be one helluva celebration in the land of what comes after. (I was going to add a toast, but the only one that comes to mind is too X-rated to share! )
Majority of mine are gone too Bev, because my really good friends were mostly hell raisers — but I got one good old friend still kickin’ with me… 🙂
I like the idea of a ripened friendship. 🙂 Some become stunted, never evolving.
The good ones usually bloom… 🙂
Wonderful Rob! The wine of vintage friendship is special indeed!
It is Dwight, and friendships blossom during the pandemic in unique ways — I have many friends in dVerse.

Thank you Christine! It’s a damned cool, creative, and caring community. The toast was a natural response! 🙂

Great Skål!
and thank you for the nostalgic music.. – unexpectedly emotional.
Thank you Ren, Skål my friend! Always nice to see you’ve visited… 🙂
Billy’s tune I’d forgotten, but the opening measures touched me too surprisingly — and seemed to fit with the poem… he and his band also played their asses off!
Mankind is an intrinsically social animal so we shall all have to imbibe copiously~
All things in moderation Larry — except chocolate… 🙂
Beautiful “wine of friendship”! I will drink the fruit of the vine (without fermentation, and celebrate the same)
Cheers to you Mary… 🙂
To us indeed! Lovin’ those first two lines. Perhaps we should all raise a glass at our next Live dVerse! 🙂
I am for that! I will raise apple juice as I don’t drink. But great idea! 🙂
~~ and to you, a hearty cheer!!!
Thank you Helen!
