Touch of Love
~
a quarter century ago
in the shadow of the tall ships
nestled inter-coastal
on the outer banks of Beaufort
our passion burst to flame
we bound that flashpoint moment
in a promise of forever
and a band of abalone
I found there in that sunset
on the Carolina sands
as ever-precious
as the diamond ring
that now encircles in its stead
that pearled bit of shell
immortalized our pledge
even to this day
it rests next to your heart
where it falls true and warm
on links of purest gold
my constant touch of love

This is lovely, Rob; a beautiful expression of love.
Way up there with the best of your poetry, Rob.
If that’s an improvisation, you should do more of it!
It has all the hallmarks of a finely honed poem.
LOVE…ly Rob..than ks for sharing
So beautifully romantic – it is inspiring to read of love that has weathered the test of time – proves it can happen, and does!

Lovely sentiments here! Nicely constructed poem, too.
Beautiful love poem. I like the way you wrote this and how it unfolded.

Beautiful and romantic.
Yes, a constant touch of love..tells it all..very beautiful and lovely expression, this!!
Nice passion and a sweetly romantic poem which has burst into flames, just like it had 25 years ago, and now warmly nestled near to your heart!!
