Seeing the world for what it could be — makes one wise.”
BE A SOLUTON
in our daily toil
to sustain the body
keep these
from your inner being
these do not feed the spirit
lift someone in need
seek the components of peace
create enduring possibility
with these
feed your spirit
sustain your tranquil center

Love it! May we all create enduring possibilities!
Thank you Lillan! And yes, may we please.
I heard a similar message from my mentor this afternoon at lunchtime. I think you two are onto something, Rob.
Holding a calm center is an important element of a personal philosophy of living balanced, that I cultivated in the 60’s Lisa, partially the combined result of the example of the Beatles, my practicing Transcendental Meditation, and the “Be Here Now” philosophy of Baba Ram Dass. It is also informed by my personal struggles with depression. This mind set of a tranquil center is also at the heart of Kipling’s “If”. It is very damned difficult to achieve. But if one does not learn to maintain a calm center, and quickly rediscover it when you lose it from time to time (and you will) — you will live a powerless life, and as a recurring victim.
Damn, what a great use of a quadrille. This one could be an anthem for both of us. My poetry and photography allow me to soar without wings, with dysfunctional legs, with rampant rivers of pain flowing freely midst my meat sack. I think the abundant creativity we both have enjoyed throughout our past is sustaining our soul presently.
Thank you Glenn, and I think you are spot on. My creativity is the one thing in life that helps me hold, or return to my center. I am certain the same is true for you. I have always said that I return to my creativity to remain sane — and that is a fucking rock solid truth.
May we all share our tranquil centers with those in need.
Yes Toni, and may we all find a way to hold centered in life, despite the challenges. If we don’t, we are useless to ourselves, and most certainly to others.
These are wise words. 🙂
Thank you RW!
We’re all in need of that tranquil center. Thank you for a lovely meditation.
You are most welcome Xan. I always strive to hold on to mine.
Awesome as usual! 🙂
Susan, how very kind — thank you! 🙂
A beautiful word of wisdom, Rob. Lifting others is a wonderful way to keep your soul tranquil!
Thank you Dwight. There is profound joy in giving, in helping. It is the marrow of life. Taking, acquiring, is a shallow satisfaction.
Yes, I agree –
Thank you Grace! I liked your poem today, but your Blogger site won’t let me leave a comment to tell you I enjoyed it.
Thank you for the words of inspiration and wisdom, Rob!
Merril, you are most welcome. Thank you for visiting again. 🙂
Thank you Rob, I really, really needed to hear this reminder this morning. To release the conflicts that do not serve me and hang on tight to my tranquil center. I’m saving a copy of this to read throughout the day.
You are quite welcome JP! So very glad my muse gave me some words for you. The mystery of poetry happens to me as well. Every now and then, just when I need it, there will be a poem that I needed at exactly that moment — serendipitous synchronicity!
Yes, If I sustain, I can in turn help others, I love the meaning in this.
Truly pleased this resonated for you Paul… 🙂
Good advice Rob. We can’t let the events of the world drag us down to their level.
Thank you Kerfe! Not always easy to stay above it.
It takes intention to live a purposeful life. Each of us has a choice at the dawn of a new day to “seek the components of peace”. This is my favorite line from your poem.
Thanks for sharing. May love land on you today.
Thank you do much Ali, you are most kind. Would that we all live mindful, focused on peace… 🙂
Great advice. Soooo not easy to do!
It is damned difficult De, but so imperative if we humans ever hope to live humanely.
This sounds like a meditative way of viewing the world.
Yes Björn, and a sane humane way of living.
This is really beautiful Rob.
Thank you Linda! 🙂
This is exactly what we did during meditation class this past Monday night. You have worded the meaning and feeling of a tranquil center.
That’s cool Sara. I did transcendental meditation for 4 years 1969-1973. I still use a couple of the techniques to relax and focus.
