Tranquil Center

“Seeing the world for what it is makes one smart.
Seeing the world for what it could be — makes one wise.”

Tranquil Center
BE A SOLUTON
~

there are conflicts
in our daily toil
to sustain the body

keep these
from your inner being
these do not feed the spirit

lift someone in need
seek the components of peace
create enduring possibility

with these
feed your spirit
sustain your tranquil center

      1. Holding a calm center is an important element of a personal philosophy of living balanced, that I cultivated in the 60’s Lisa, partially the combined result of the example of the Beatles, my practicing Transcendental Meditation, and the “Be Here Now” philosophy of Baba Ram Dass. It is also informed by my personal struggles with depression. This mind set of a tranquil center is also at the heart of Kipling’s “If”. It is very damned difficult to achieve. But if one does not learn to maintain a calm center, and quickly rediscover it when you lose it from time to time (and you will) — you will live a powerless life, and as a recurring victim.

    1. Damn, what a great use of a quadrille. This one could be an anthem for both of us. My poetry and photography allow me to soar without wings, with dysfunctional legs, with rampant rivers of pain flowing freely midst my meat sack. I think the abundant creativity we both have enjoyed throughout our past is sustaining our soul presently.

      1. Thank you Glenn, and I think you are spot on. My creativity is the one thing in life that helps me hold, or return to my center. I am certain the same is true for you. I have always said that I return to my creativity to remain sane — and that is a fucking rock solid truth.

      1. Yes Toni, and may we all find a way to hold centered in life, despite the challenges. If we don’t, we are useless to ourselves, and most certainly to others.

    2. Thank you Rob, I really, really needed to hear this reminder this morning. To release the conflicts that do not serve me and hang on tight to my tranquil center. I’m saving a copy of this to read throughout the day.

      1. You are quite welcome JP! So very glad my muse gave me some words for you. The mystery of poetry happens to me as well. Every now and then, just when I need it, there will be a poem that I needed at exactly that moment — serendipitous synchronicity!

    3. It takes intention to live a purposeful life. Each of us has a choice at the dawn of a new day to “seek the components of peace”. This is my favorite line from your poem.

Thanks for sharing. May love land on you today.

    4. This is exactly what we did during meditation class this past Monday night. You have worded the meaning and feeling of a tranquil center.
