Virgin papers
spread before me
undefiled
no burden of remorse
no weight of mystery
do they bear
no sting of anger
no wink of mirth
no blush of passion
coin of phrase unspent
nothing clever
nor profound
this night
icy void
my thoughts
uninspired

It’s a Blah night indeed. How about some I cream, can you have that?
Your “virgin papers”, I scarf up the ones ‘thoroughly used’ on one side, use them for personal not very important stuff printing. Even raid waste baskets at the post office, etc.
..
Love ice cream Jim, but it doesn’t like me. It makes me use extra indulin… 🙁
An interesting piece. Well done poem.
Thank you Arcadia… 🙂
And yet there it is….all of it.
A clever write.
Funny how that happens… 😉 …thank you Mich… 🙂
I think you thawed that icy void. You just had to light that poetic fire.
Burn it down True… 🙂
So creative, Rob! N(icely) done.
Thank you Jay… 🙂
Your version of “uninspired” is still pretty inspiring to me, Rob!
~David
Cool David — I‘m pleased David… 🙂
I like the way your quadrille is enclosed by the two words ‘Unspent’ and ‘uninspired’, Rob, and the list of negatives enclosed by ‘undefiled’ and ‘uninspired’, to emphasise the ‘icy void’. But the void didn’t last long – you were inspired after all.
Thank you Kim I am very pleased you like this… 🙂
How to be inspired by a supposed lack of inspiration! I like that ‘coin of phrase unspent’ 🙂
Thank you Jane… 🙂
“…icy void…” I love where you went with this poem, Rob. It’s moody and thought provoking!
Thank you Colleen… 🙂
even uninspired is an inspiration… those icy voids are warming up
Sometimes a good idea blows through that void… 😉
We all face that situation from time to time…
When I do, I just start writing, whatever falls outta my head. Usually leads me somewhere.
Rob, such a fitting title for the idea of no inspiration laid upon the page. It’s no fun when the muse refuses to cooperate.
Damned frustrating Lisa — but hey, it happens my friend.
