H ello human
I see you
I see you friend
are you
my friend
sometimes
we wonder
my kind have watched you
for a million years
seen your weakness
know your fears
in very early times
for your survival
we hunted with you
but in these times
we no longer
understand you
your ancestors were here first
before we evolved to become aware
yet you do not seem to respect
this beautiful home we share
you know well
I am of a wild heart
a free spirit
yet I understand balance
living in balance
sacred balance
with our shared world
our earth
it is in my nature
as once it was
with your kind
but seems your fearful
need to dominate
has made you blind
we share this earth
we wolves
and you humans
but listen human
I am in danger
as are we both
the fresh pure water
that we both so need
to survive
we need its replenishment
even more than food
if we’re to stay alive
food that also depends
intrinsically on water
but water
is rapidly disappearing
as toxins
permeate our earth’s
fragile water systems
if we would lose
our precious water
earth’s ecosystem will collapse
human
you must see
the only way
we both survive
is in sacred balance
with this planet
our mother
we have no other
though I may not speak
still you must hear
this voice of truth
is clear

you must come to know
the pure heart of justice
justice for this earth
for our home
in this we need each other
we can not stand alone
truth and justice
are linked together
one to the other
now and forever
as are you and I
with earth
our common
place of birth
I may not have a voice
but listen with your heart
feel with your heart
feel the pain
the suffering
let it burn
like acid rain
to permeate
your brain
to think
this earth is struggling
battling mightily
to endure
we need that you
see this truth
it’s not obscure
learn to see
with your eyes
as my kind
see with ours
wandering this planet daily
please see
you are the cause
but you are also
the possible solution
if you will
but open your eyes
your hearts
your minds
become an eco-revolution
look into these eyes
my eyes
that weep
tears
for climate change
pollution
deforestation
for all this reckless
foolish
devastation
human
you must become
the wild heart I am

Hear me human
hear my wolf’s song
as I keen and howl
for our dying world
so too
you must howl
raise your human voices
use your words
use them now
scream of the injustice
of the real danger
the imminent danger
we must rally
to seek
and to secure
the sacred balance
hold it close
become its protector
not its abuser
pitiful neglector
correct your imbalance
with our mother earth
respect your precious
place of birth
stop your human stupidity
please
I believe
with all the wildness
of my natural heart
with all the strength
of my free spirit
that some of you
want to do your part
want to join the battle
join the pact
to bring balance back
my kind
and our earth must trust
that you will
because you must
life on our earth
is dying
but it seems most humans
are just not trying
your carelessness
is killing our mother
gaia
and killing you and I
a result of your
lethal human arrogance
and this might just be
our final chance
we cannot let it
just go by
if we’re to make it
we must take it
see me human
feel me
hear me
it’s time you start
you must listen
now
ignite your wild heart!

~ Hear me cry for our dying earth ~
The call of the wild to the wild at heart! I love your creative message to us all!
Thank you Dwight I’m glad resonated for you, my friend, I just wish a whole hell of more people paid attention to what we humans are doing to wildlife to the Earth to each other. We seem to have so far to go still to really be considered civilized. oh well if I don’t cross paths virtually with you before Christmas please have a wonderful holiday and you and your family. Love you my friend. 🙂
Oh if only we would listen, we need each other and our water is so precious. We need to fight for all our animals survival if we are to survive too.
I write pieces like this Di, to pretend somebody might listen and change some costly tendencies they might have, including myself.
“are you
my friend
sometimes
we wonder”
Soft spoken and yet a gut punch.
“but in these times
we no longer
understand you”
I suspect most other species on the planet do not understand human beings.
I agree 100 Melissa, we may have the trappings of the top of the food chain, but I’m not so sure that this might and cleverness that we exhibit really puts us at the top of the food chain practically it does but we really are quite poor at learning or knowing how to live in balance with this earth, and with the other creatures, that far out number us on this earth. we don’t know what animals think or how they think or precisely what they think of that but I can’t help but think that they don’t have a sense that this globe is in trouble and I can’t help but think they have the sense that humans are creating difficulties for them and for the planet . We is human species. Just need to put our ego down and roll our sleeves up and stop acting like dominant assholes and figure out a way to make everything work together before it’s too late. And don’t get me wrong. There’s a part of me that thinks it is too late, but we should still try .
Oh the wolf, not only so much like ourselves, it has always been hated by some. Still it knows what we also know, but we don’t dare to face what we are doing.
I think it goes Wanting to face it I think, despite all of our rhetoric and show dogging I’m not sure we know what to do to turn this around. I think that it’s a blend of confusion guilt, frustration, anger those are not good ingredients to combine in an emotional world, and an world going too fast to fully understand what continues to unfold for us with regard to advantages opportunities as possibilities. We are not superhuman and I think we’ve gotten to the point where we are so concerned about whether or not we can do something and enamored with that, that we’re doing so much in society that if logic and common sense were combined, we would slow down and not be doing much of it because we don’t know what we don’t know. That’s just my thoughts.
If only the rest of humankind would tune in to their inner wolves, Rob, as you have to yours. We must all learn to understand balance with our shared world and ignite our wild hearts again.
And my son and daughter-in-law would disagree immensely with what I’m about to say, but I think the deeper and deeper we go into isolating technologies, the less and less sensitivity we have in the natural world. I think it’s a matter of apathy and distraction. that is rude cause for what’s happening to our environment to our animals, and also to the human empathy that we should be exercising every day. Given we do have the largest intellect, that may be a dolphin, which I don’t understand but since we are at least at this moment, considered the top dog, we have to use our empathy to understand the rest around us. We have to take a leadership role, we have to do what it takes to change this mess and I’ll close by saying I don’t see it really doing it. There is some lip service paid and there’s a program here in the program there but I see a lot of hate and indifference and that worries me. But maybe I’m just an old fart now , I don’t know
Bravo ???? on this brilliant, epic poem. ??
Thank you Lesley, very much. Your kind words are genuinely appreciated my ftiend… 🙂
A wise wolf that we can learn things from.
Listen to your wild heart… 🙂
