to grow up
is to chase off
our innocence
our naïve belief
in the world as a beautiful place
to harden against the magic
of our childhood dreams
but if by chance
we can cling to just one
perhaps we can hold on
to our precious sense of wonder

One can be enough, especially if we can learn how to hold the wonder inside and call on it when we need it.
Too many of us “harden against the magic”.
My kids help with the wonder department (but I have my own set of fairy cards). Lovely sentiment.
What a sweet and wonderful ode
to our inner child, Rob. It is nice
to see the warmth emanating from
your spirit. Without “wonder” we
are lost, as people, as poets.
I really like this, and it is so nicely paired with the picture. I like this moment. Grab it and hold on. 🙂
Absolutely wonder-ful!!!!!! I love it.
Aaaw, just beautiful. I hope to never lose the sense of wonder.
I don’t think we lose our sense of wonder; we stop seeing the wonder in the familiar.
it is a shame the wonder that is lost as we grow up…i refuse personally…at least for now…one day i will pine for it…
May it be so!
Nice interpretation if the prompt.
I mean of course ‘of the prompt’.
Aah, how I wish it was that simple…
