Original DDE™ quadtrych: “Power of Words” by: rob kistner © 10/12/23
I thrust my words into the fire
they scorched and warped and blistered
which made them hot and coarse
too searing to embrace
so I led my words to a raging storm
they soaked and swelled and sagged
which made them bloat with heft
too heavy to hold
then I released my words into the cold
they froze and cracked and splintered
which made them sharp and piercing
too frigid to handle
finally I let my words waft delicately
like the fragrance of flower petals
and sweet they lifted from my heart
and soft they rolled from off my tongue
and light they drifted through the air
set free to float with a quiet prayer
so those they may help can find them there
and pass them on should they wish to share

Brilliant poem Rob, especially that last stanza.
Thank you Kim… 🙂
This is exquisitely drawn, Rob! It was wonderful to see and hear you read this at Open Link LIVE today 😀
Thank you Sanaa… 🙂
????????was great hearing you read this! Like I said, I love it! The last two stanzas are, of course, my favorites. I like the way you wrap everything up with the rhymes in the last stanza. Well written.
Thank you Melissa… 🙂
A great Poem Rob. Words with emotion… that is poetry.
Thank you very much Dwight… 🙂
words are the message, poems the messenger and the words have reached my heart i’d wish to share
i love your poem, Rob
Sami, thank you so much sir… 🙂
I thought I was bummed because I couldn’t come hang out with everyone yesterday, but now that I read this (and imagine you delivering it live) I’m waaaay more than merely bummed. Gret stuff, RK. Thanks.
Thank you my friend. When I see you’re not there, it diminishes the group a bit for me. I always notice your absence anytime I don’t see your name, LIVE, or just with a prompt. You and Glenn always feel/felt like brothers — you most especially. I feel a kinship. Our life path’s had/have a syncopation, though important differences for each other. I would have enjoyed hanging with you back then, and I do enjoy hanging with you “virtually” now. You’re my dude… 🙂
I enjoyed hearing you reading this a lot, and yes we need those words… at least until they lull us a bit too far.
Thank you Björn, I genuinely appreciate your kind and wise “words”… 🙂
This has such a fragrance, and once it wafts to that last stanza it is set free. Delightful
Thank you Eric… 🙂
You’re the artist, Rob and words are the colors you choose for your work. I imagine a sky of fragrant flower petals falling from the clouds that make a cushion to rest on and have the sweetest dreams.
Thank you Lisa. Wouldn’t that be wonderful magic… 🙂
I love the tempering of words in fire, where they ‘scorched and warped and blistered’ and in cold, where they ‘froze and cracked and splintered’ but, ultimately, we have to let them blossom and waft. Nicely done, Rob!
Thank you Kim… 🙂
Rob,
I appreciate how your poem speaks of process. Our words have power and it can be so difficult to own them, to understand them to choose what we wish to share with others. I loved this, especially the last stanza.
Wishing you wellness and peace.
Thank you Ali… 🙂
I luvved hearing you read this at our OLN.
Amazing art. Luv it
Much????love
Thank you Gillena, it was my pleasure… 🙂
Lovely, Rob. It was great to hear you read last week!
Thank you Merril… 🙂
I too, loved the last two verses, with their light touch and a promise of expanding message. It contrasted so well with the sharp delineation of your previous ones.
(And the graphics were a delight as well.)
Thank you Jinksy… 🙂
Delicate wafting is the solution to so many of life’s dilemmas … we are blessed you share that immense talent with all of us.
Thank you Helen. I am pleased it has meaning for others. It is my way of not only giving life to my imagination, but also preserving my sanity and cognitive capabilities. I have been in the care of a neurologist for a couple years now, monitoring my increasing memory challenges. Writing also helps me in that regard.I am getting my semi-annual brain MRI on Halloween.
I had a frightening TIA in 2019. My brain new the words I wanted to say however I could not speak them. Thankfully I was on the phone with my daughter who got me to the ER pronto.
How frightening Helen, and what good fortune that you had your daughter’s love and quick thinking on the line with you… 🙂
Just lovely, Rob!
Thank you Rosemary… 🙂
Wow , this is so lovely….I loved it especially the last stanza
Thank you Jossina, I am pleased this resonated for you… 🙂
